  • the boot logo is the flash files. splash.bin

    Download Xorion BootlogoMatik

    Open Xorion BootlogoMatik

Click on " Add bootlogo" (bootlogo wait/backdrop etc)

    Search for your preferred image.

Select your preferred resolution (this depends on the quality of the image you want to use)

    Click "convert to .mvi"

Stick in your receivers ip and password (user is normally root)

    Click "Send Converted Logo(S)"

    Job done.

Reboot receiver to see results on your tv.

    It lives in /usr/share/bootlogo.mvi

  • Hello, to access your files in the Define image, you must first look in the menu in configuration and network status to find the connection IP address, then connect with DCC or others and there go to /var/volatile/tmp/userdataroot4/gx/local

and you will find your config files, but I have not seen any files concerning the bootlogo.....knowing that the userdataroot is not always 4, you put the number of the location of your image among the choice of the first 4 locations....

  • this board is enough , no other search engine is needed ;-) file must have specific dimention.

mvi is single frame "movie" made from jpg

  • To reinstall the original "Octagon Logo" at boot on the Octagon sf8008 you should know exactly where the file bootlogo.mvi is . I have this problem myself , I've solved it a couple of years ago but now after a recovery it did appear again and I forgot how to procede.

Well ,I'll try to explain. When you switch on the decoder on let's say "openATV 7.4" two bootlogos appear the first for all OATV 's versions (OPENATV) and at half boot appears the one of the version 7.4 and this happens also when I boot STARTUP 3 where I have OpenBH installed, first to show is "OPENATV" and then the proper OpenBH logo.

Now if I overwrite the file in /usr/share/bootlogo.mvi with the original "Octagon" logo I will only change the second bootlogo and not the first "OPENATV" logo. Would be good some help from OpenATV.

yeah. It would be good if someone could explain it. DefineOS has no bootlogo.mvi file in /usr/share/. If everything was fine before the reinstallation, then this file or something similar must be somewhere, because a bootlogo can't run out of nowhere.

Of course the 1st bootlogo "OPENATV" is a splash screen and as I understand it can't be changed.

  • Hi.

You can also change 1.) the "splash.bin" boot-logo of the device and also 2.) the Enigma2 boot-logo.

The first is done by flashing. Unfortunately, the OpenATV image contains their own splash logo for the device, which it overwrites with its OpenATV logo... unfortunately. If you want to change it, you have to flash the device again, but without all the files. You only leave this splash-logo there. The file name of this splash-logo can be different in each set-top box (it differs according to the manufacturer and sometimes also according to the specific type of device from this manufacturer). Find the splash boot logo for the manufacturer of your device online. Then create a USB key for flashing again. Upload everything as before, but delete the redundant files - and... leave the USB keys in the appropriate folder, just splash.....bin file. Perform flashing and you will have back the flood boot logo from the device manufacturer.

The second type of boot logo is already in Enigma2, in its directory structure, as a short "video". It is a special .MVI file format. This can also be changed / modified, but the procedure is more complicated. You can find the procedure on the internet.

    //// EDIT :

Some original enigma2 firmware supplied by device manufacturers also contain this file. For example, Vu+ firmware contains its own attached file, for each device, called as "splash_auto.bin" or "splash_cfe_auto.bin" or something else - whose name also depends on the specific type of manufacturer's device !

  • Thanks s3n0,

I'have already got the Octagon original splash logo "Usb_update.bin" file , I put it on a usb drive and update the decoder but it doesn't work anymore, for the second bootlogo I've got no problems in creating a new one or changing it.

  • And how did you update it ? How did you proceed ?

I wrote that it is necessary to delete all files, except for this one "splash...bin". It can also be done by downloading the ZIP-firmware from OpenATV again - for your set-top box. You unzip it onto a USB stick. You delete all the files (leave the folders and paths alone). Then overwrite the original splash that you have, instead of the original one on the USB stick. To be sure, check that the same resolution and image format fits... which you verify by renaming the files or adding the .BMP extension there (yes, this is a BMP file format). The OpenATV image and also the new one you have with the original Octagon must have the same resolution and color bit depth.

Here is the procedure and also the download of several original "splash.....bin" files for various Octagon SF 8008 devices (there are several types with the number SF 8008):

    EDIT:

Um, OK, these files for Octagon SF8008 do not work as BMP format. It's something different :). I tried renaming it to BMP and it's not enough. Apparently it's a bit more complicated. Special format or some firmware code is also included. Sorry. I don't know. But it should work!

  • It depends on the Enigma2 distribution. As a rule, there is no password. So they can press enter. Sometimes the password is set the same as the admin name, i.e. that there is "root" as the password. It is ideal to log in to the set-top box via a Telnet connection and set the password with the "passwd" command. What I mention should work for the connection. So the login is root and the password is empty (press the enter key).
