  • Before uploading the fresh image from the Dreambox recovery web page (not online), in that web page DO NOT select any backup option. Probably some item is selected as default, so unselect all these items and start uploading. Doing so, every old settings are erased and the box is totally cleaned up.

Try and report here what happens after rebooting.

  • I'm not an expert at OpenATV, but I think that image, when you do the initial setup, will check if there are any saved settings and restore them. You should know where these settings are saved and delete them before the flash. It is correct what Satmeter writes. Before uploading the image from recovery mode, the settings box must be unchecked to obtain a clean image.

  • In a very minor annoyance, I have a Vu+ Duo2 (non 4k) with 7.6 running perfectly.

However, despite setting the zone to the correct geography for me, the weather info that comes up on the screen is not correct at all.

I have the box plugged into gigabit ethernet for internet.

Where does it pick up that info from and can I play with the settings?

    Cheers,
    A

  • I suspect that the problem is the tuner handling by the image. And, again, I do not understand why the SCPC option was removed.

Also, I will perform the same test on my DM920 that includes a different type of tuner.

Try posting on the OpenATV forum

Well, I'm not registered in the Openatv forum yet.

But I have an important update to report here.

Today I uploaded the 7.6 in my DM920 and the SCPC option is present in the Tuner Configuration menu, and I can also select the tuner input that I want to use.

Once setup correctly, all those 3 frequencies mentoned above are perfectly tuned, as expected.

So, now we can be sure that the problem is only in the tuner handling in the Vu+ image.

Any hope for a possible fix? Any Openatv developer here? Thanks.

openatv will not restore setting unless told do do so I don't know about dreambox setup but I have GigablueQuadPro with internal hard drive ans settings archive files are stored in /media/hdd/backup_openatv_gbquad4kpro folder.

  • hi

when i do the recovery online i make sure that the the 2 boxes are not tickked so i can have a clean flash even though i still get stuck in boot mode as i reported in previous posts

    any other image is fine

now i have the pure2 in the dm900 which is working.

but the box is not having the open ATV7.6

Maybe the open ATV team can shed some light about this issue

    that would be great

    thanks

Last year I helped a friend install OpenATV in miltiboot, having the original dreamos image flashes. Then the OATV image was extracted from the /media/hdd/backup path. Which I do regularly on my dm920, without any problem. I never backed up the settings on OATV. When I start the image, I have to configure it normally. When the friend started the image, they didn't need to set it up, but they were already starting with the settings. Even if we repeated the operation, the same thing happened. The friend had previously backed up an OATV image, I don't even know how. Hence what I wrote in my previous post

No. Maybe I didn't explain myself well. My friend multibooted an image that had just been downloaded from the OATV website, not a previous backup. With Barry Allen or Alan Turing, the images to be extracted must be inserted in the path I indicated. Previously, on an older OATV, he had somehow saved the settings, which were then fished out.

  • hi urie

i did post the screenshots in this post #802

may be you can have a look at and see what you think

    cheers

yes just noticed but now that I see it i remember you have been told how to sort it hopefully network has loaded at that point and you need to connect via terminal i,e, putty or openwebif terminal and delete your skin.
you could even use windows file manager just type \\ ipaddress of you reciever into search bar
example for me it is \\192.168.68.54 other that that you need to install clean image as you have not because it has installed none default skin.

you need to navigate to user/share and delete the offending skin
