  • Hello everyone

i got this old decoder for very low price and i'm trying to install an enigma 2 firmware on it.

Tried the openatv 6.4 image, using a USB FAT32 memory but no success.

I used the procedure of powering it up and pressing the ok button together, select FORCE , then the decoder tries to read the USB but the process doesn't work.

    What can i do.

Which images do you suggest for this box?

I have also read that maybe i need to install a "spark plugin" before installing an enigma firmware but i don't understand how.

    Can you help me?

    Thanks.

    Plugin "E2upgrade"

The method I recommend is installation using the E2upgrade plugin, which we will install on Spark.

After installing the plugin and rebooting the receiver, you should activate it in Menu - Plugins - plugin_e2upgrade.s

Unzip the downloaded archive onto a flash drive and insert the flash drive into the USB port of the receiver, after the receiver system initializes the flash drive, press the red button on the remote control (I remind you that I did not exit the plugin menu and the cursor remains on the plugin_e2upgrade.s plugin).

After pressing the red button in the previous step, we got to the E2upgrade plugin menu, in the Update Path line we select our drive (flash drive) by pressing the central button of the remote control "OK", after which a window pops up with the structure of the subfolders that are available to me, we look for the folder copied to the media from the downloaded archive (it does not have to be a folder called enigma 2), we also confirm its opening with the OK button and see that there are no more folders, which is confirmed by the empty window of this menu,

then we press the red button again, the hint at the bottom "Select" (which means Selection in translation)

As a result, in the Update Path line we get the full path to the image files in the form /storage/c/enigma2/, then we press the red button of the remote control, the hint at the bottom of the screen "Upgrade Enigma" (update, download Enigma 2), the Enigma 2 download process will begin, we wait for the update process to complete (the remote control can put aside so as not to accidentally press anything).

After the update process is complete, we will receive the message "Upgrade Enigma 2 Success" in the small menu window, after which the small window will disappear, which will mean that the update process has been completed successfully and you can exit the plugin menu, we have loaded Enigma 2 into the receiver.

To turn on the now loaded Enigma 2 OS, you should turn off the receiver from the network with the power switch on the back of the receiver, hold down the "OK" button (which is hidden under the front panel of the receiver) and keep the button pressed while turning on the power,

after the inscription Forc appears on the VFD display, release the "OK" button and press the CH ▼ button down, the inscription EN16 will appear, confirm with the "OK" button (in this case, all switching on the front panel of the receiver is not remote control)

then wait for the end of the loading progress on the VFD display, after which the receiver will boot with the installed Enigma 2 OS.

To return to the Spark OS, we do all the same steps, but after the inscription on the VFD display Forc, we will press the CH ▲ button up and confirm the loading with the "OK" button, then wait for the loading process to finish.

  • Thanks Pedro, i was able to flash the image (tried openatv 6.4) , the problem was probably related to the usb (i used a 32 gb fat32 formatted , then i tried a 16 gb and it worked).

What's the latest best image for this box?

With openatv i have problems with the sound (sound doesn't work) and DVB-T2 capability is poor, few channels are recognized (using the spark system all the channels are tuned instead).

    Thanks.

  • Hello Stevie999! I can't say exactly which image is better for the 7162 processor, since I have a Sparkreloaded box on the 7111 processor. For myself, I chose builds and backups from ahmedmoselhi and ahmed gazye, or official builds from OpenATV.
