  • I have an H7s and on startup it displays boot.

Attempt to reflash using saved image and also recovery image on multiple different usb sticks under 8gb formatted fully in fat32. On restart, flsh does not show up.

Depending on which usb slot I use, display does some odd things.

First, using lower usb 2.0 slot(while holding front button under flap), over a few minutes the letters spelling boot display one by one starting with the b, until finally boot is displayed but box stays completely unresponsive and flsh never shows. Pure black screeen from start to finish.

Tried upper usb 2.0 slot, display shows boo, changes to boa after approx. 20 seconds, then after over a minute released front panel button and display goes back to boo for a minute before changing to boot. Again nothing at all on screen.

When I used usb 3.0 slot, display started with just b, then after 10 secs displayed boot. Box at no point successfully boots.

Tried turning on box with usb in but not holding front button, even more random stuff displayed, like starting with the b, then b space a.

I have ethernet plugged int box, but it is not showing up on my network.

Simple question really, is it buggered, or is there anywhere that may be able to repair for less than replacement?

Thank you in advance for any helpful information

If yours is the version with the HDD inside and not sticking out at rear it may be a gonner but try this.

    1. The best option is to try a different PSU as the one supplied is crap and goes eventually. I use PSU from a SOLO2 but have quite a few boxes.

However, if you dont have a spare psu then try this, disconnect the HDD and try a reboot but use Openpli 8.3 dont try the recovery. When you press the power button and hold until it says flash or update and see if it progresses.

If it flashes put in a usb stick and use that as HDD for now. 16gb for now.

here is a pic of the PSU. Its not cheap but good.

  • Try to update the image like this

    - copy the image to USB

    - enter the software manager

    - install the system online

    - download the image

    - select the image copied to USB

  • bmitie... your a lifesaver! :star struck:

found an alternative power supply, plugged it in turned it on and it started as though nothing was ever wrong!

It's great news for me to find the cause, as I have two other h7s's and it would have been not very nice if I had to replace this one with like or a different box with the shadow of maybe having to do it twice more without knowing why.

Fixing is always preferable if possible.

    Once again, thank you.

Thanks also goes out to all who use, read, and reply to all these queries. You all make what at first seems an insurmountable task become available to all

Much appreciated :smiling face with halo:
