GigaBlue UHD Quad 4K Pro FW not working

  • I just bought the GigaBlue UHD Quad 4K Pro, it's the latest of many OpenATV boxes I've used, however I've never had one refuse to install FW. I used a small USB A drive with fat32 as usual, I even tried using a "force" file, but the thing refuses to do anything, it just hangs there. The box came with the proprietary Gigablue FW, which I really don't like, and my GOTO has always been OpenATV. Is this a common issue? What is the fix? Thanks

Addendum: is the online rescue option the only way to get this box to update? I used it, and it is now running OpenATV, I just don't understand why it won't update from the USB drive?

Did you get an option to mount the usb when you first plugged it in? On some of the later images i have seen a pop up that asks you what you want to do with the usb stick. I click on mount it temporary and then it allows you to read the stick. You can also see if you stick is being read by going in the plugins and media scanner to see if the usb is being read.

No options, it just says it's installing but does nothing?

Are leaving the files zipped? Also are you pushing the green button to expand which will bring in your files on the usb stick.

You could also install other images from the online directory of openatv. I always leave one version of openatv in one of the slots as i find it easier

to install other images via this image.

  • Have you updated the bootloader for the GigaBlue Quad 4K Pro?

    Current version: 2448 (dated December 4, 2024)

    Improvements and bug fixes:
Fixes issues with waking from the timer.
Support for booting multiboot slots 5-8.

    Update instructions:

Connect to your box via Telnet and execute the following command:

    wget -O /tmp/bolt_update.sh "http://source.mynonpublic.com/bolt_update.sh" && chmod 777 /tmp/bolt_update.sh && /tmp/bolt_update.sh

The update will start automatically and check if an update is required. If so, the bootloader will be installed.

    Important information:

Do not turn off or unplug the box during the update!

Aborting the update may result in the box no longer starting and requiring return to GigaBlue for repair.

    °Never change a running system°

  • Ok, I got it working, however I cannot access the box in Windows 11? I can see it in the file browser, but clicking it just gets me path not found. I've Enabled SMB 1.0/CIFS Support, but it just won't budge. Anyone have any ideas?
