First, you can load the image you are used to on the device into slot 1, then (to try it on a micro SD or USB hard drive by installing multiboot) you can load the ready backups into slot 5. I wish you healthy and happy days with your new toy.

    recovery_ restores devices from scratch for all images, resets everything

but everything on the device remains. Install all your images to the slot you want, install the image that is compatible with the receiver (
enigma2-plugin-extensions-multiboot-flashonline_7.1_all)
If you install the plugin, install images from slot 5 onwards, it will not harm the device
always install recovery to slot 1, the image doesn't matter

    Well it's recommended to install latest OpenVix image to get latest updates. Still you'll see Box crashes for no reason from time to time even no matter which image you gonna use.

    Frankly, I've had two Octagon 8008s and 8008 Minis for many years and I've never experienced the crashes you describe. I've also never heard that the OpenVix image was recommended; Octagons have always shipped with OpenATV images. Your device must have a problem; it's often with the latest Supreme versions. You should request a replacement.

    Openvix way better than any image for this box. Recording PVR works like a charm. Switching to different audio tracks also very clean and no bugs. Many things improved. Superb image.

    Good for you, but in the meantime you don't need to open multiple topics for a problem that isn't really a problem; it's simply because you don't know how to use your device....

    I think you're the type who tests an image and declares it's the best in the world.... :zany face:

    Octagon SF8008 Crashes when switching channels after some time.
    Latest openvix installed everything seems fine. But problem is box crashes for no reason when i try to switch from one channel to another. Maybe after 4 hours use or just randomly sometimes. Anyone experienced this problem or know any solution how to fix it?.

    freezes while the spinner is active, requiring a manual power cycle via the rear switch to recover

    Logs in Home/Root do not show what causes this problem./

    You probably bought a second hand device where someone else have installed OpenVIX. Chances are that it was a faulty device that has been returned and put back on sale. I would send it back too if I was you and get it from an official seller.
    It does comes with OpenATV and DEFINE OS as default from factory.

    I used many devices in the past. And most of the images have tons of bugs even with the official factory systems and many simple things just don't work. Because all of these linux boxes are usually very unstable and if you do some simple mistake you can easily mess up whole box even if you install some plugin it can break your whole box cause i'm sure most of these plugins not compatible with all devices. And i didn't say openvix it's the best one but it's more stable than other ones. With openvix you can watch media files from Cif share from end to finish. While other images can't even do that or i even seen wierd audio desyncs in other images. Or even simple things like switching from one audio track to another one causes bugs. But yeah all of them are fking shit in my opinion no matter what. I used for satellite channels older devices in the past and it was the same crap not much improved over the years. Now i only use IPTV and it's watchable to some extent but not the perfect solution obviously. All these plugins included in the image can break your whole system i'm sure they not even tested probably. Simple weather plugin can fking cause tons of crashes but yeah each to their own. Most images can't even transfer huge files from FTp server to your pc but with Openvix seems fine. Yeah it's like Fragile glass breaks easily.

    Yeah SF8008 with similar hardware to Gigablue uhd trio they are much better boxes and Hisilicon Hi3798MV200 very good for IPTV. But protect god from boxes like dreambox one ultra now that's super overpriced garbage :)). Remote controller is way better in gigablue hd trio than Octagon sf8008 for sure.


    I believe memory leak cache can also cause random crashes. Best to use clearcache plugin with anybox.

    Not really android boxes are very slow and works badly with iptv. Android boxes are biggest trash ever for low iq people. Quality is way worse than enigma2 boxes. In this case you can use Android phone and mirror video to your tv will be the same.

    Yeah i had android box once. Never again haha. I'm Happy with my octagon supreme does the job.
