  • Hi There,

Long time member, mostly Lurking :-), so I guess this is my first actual post, let me explain my situation and hopefuly somebody can point me in the right direction.

My current setup has 2 servers, both are based on the same hardware (I'd have to look up what actual hardware it is if that's relevant, so please let me know if so), they're small linux based boxes that run a version of Linux Voyager. Both are configured as CCCam Servers, used only for DVB-C. They are 10+ years old, I think the CCCAM version they're running is 2.3.0 and as for clients it's a mix of 2.3.0 and 2.3.2. On the server side of things hardly anything has been modified, ever. The only modifications are on the side of adding and removing IP's from the firewall whitelist, stuff like that.

the servers were already up and running before they got in my posession (some 10+ years ago) so from server-administrator perspective all I've been doing is the above, a reboot now and then, some updates to iptables, etc.etc. Never any actual (re)installation of stuff like that.

So here comes the actual question after sharing all the lore :smiling face: :

I've got a raspberry pi 5 that I've been using to play around a bit with Pi OS and linux in general, what I want to do right now is migrate one of my 2 current CCCAM servers to the RaspBerry Pi 5. I'm assuming the best way to go about doing this is just settings up a clean CCCam Sercer on the Pi5, re-use the smartcard reader from one of the 2 servers and then configure it to replace one of the 2 servers.

I've been searching here on the forums to see if I could piece together what to do based on parts of the solution found in others posts, but so far I came up with zip....
everything that seems to contain parts of the information I need are either very old posts (at least as old as my current servers :-D) or is more focused on something else, which might hold enough information for me to use, but since I'm just a total Noob on the subject I can't make the proper connection on what to use (yet).

it is all just very hobby based, its basically just the TV"s in my house, my parents and a couple of cousins that use it. So there is no rush at all, there is no problem with (longer periods) of downtime, etc.

So yeah I guess that was it, tldr:
I wanna migrate an old (10+ years) Linux Voyager CCCam Server with a usb-cardreader used for DVB-C to a new Raspberry Pi 5 based CCCCam server - anyone that can help me out?

    thanks in advance!

    EDIT:
Just thought about the fact that I could also just set it up not like how the old servers currently work, so maybe OSCam based or something like that? I'm open to any ideas!
