CHL Editor Tool by Jeeg72 — User Guide

CHL Editor Tool, a small programme that allows you to customise your motor/multifeed/mono channel list without having to do anything complicated. It works directly in your browser (Chrome, Firefox, Edge), requires no installation and does not send any data over the internet: everything takes place on your PC.

    COMPATIBLE RECEIVERS

The tool supports .chl format lists for the following receivers running Mars firmware:

    ● GTMedia V8 UHD

    ● GTMedia V8X

    ● GTMedia V7Pro

    ● Freesat V8 Ultra

    HOW TO USE IT

    1 — OPEN THE PROGRAMME

Double-click on the file CHL_Editor_Jeeg72_V1.0.html: it will open in your browser and you’re all set.

    2 — LOAD THE LIST

Click on ‘Import CHL’ (or simply drag the .chl file directly into the window) to load the motor list you have downloaded. You will see the bouquets in the left-hand column and the channels for each bouquet on the right.

    3 — EDITING THE BOUQUETS

In the left-hand column, you can:

    - reorder the bouquets by dragging them up and down with the mouse

    - rename a bouquet by double-clicking on its name

    - delete a bouquet by clicking on the X next to its name (please note: all the channels it contains will also be deleted)

    4 — EDITING CHANNELS

Select a package from the left-hand column: all its channels will appear on the right. You can:

    - reorder channels by dragging them (only within the same package — it is not possible to move a channel from one satellite to another, to avoid reception problems)

    - rename a channel by double-clicking on its name

    - delete a channel using the bin icon

    - set the decoder’s native flags: Parental Control, Hide, Skip

    5 — SEARCH FOR A CHANNEL

Use the search bar at the top right to quickly find a channel by name, satellite or frequency. Clicking the arrow next to the result takes you directly to the package containing it.

    6 — UNDO CHANGES

The arrow buttons at the top (or Ctrl+Z / Ctrl+Y on the keyboard) undo or redo the last actions, going back up to 40 steps.

7 — SAVING YOUR WORK HALFWAY THROUGH

If you want to stop and continue later, click ‘Save project’: a .json file will be created, which you can reopen at any time using the ‘Open project’ button. The .json file contains the original list plus all your changes.

    8 — EXPORTING THE LIST

When you’re happy with it, click “Export CHL”: the file filename_modified.chl will be downloaded, ready to be uploaded to the receiver just as you would with any channel list.

    NOTE

    - Multistream (MIS) channels and T2MI channels (e.g. Abertis 30°W) are preserved correctly in the export.

    - You cannot add new channels: the tool is designed to customise an existing list, not to create one from scratch.

    - If you accidentally delete a bouquet or a channel, click ‘Undo’ immediately before exporting.
