If I take a system backup(NOT an image backup), and I decide I want to try another image, can I restore my settings from the previous image to my new image?
Will Cccam, Mgcamd and all the other preconfigured emu's also be saved in this backup?
Or do I have to install these emu's and softcams and whatever (I am a newbie so I hardly know one from the other) on the new image first, and then transfer my settings to get everything working?

Generally a settings backup will not be cross compatible from one image to another. so only a ViX settings backup will work on a ViX image and vice versa.
