Nagra powers Digital+ hybrid platform

  • Digital+ has launched a new hybrid TV service, bringing over-the-top content to its iPlus set-top box. The combined linear and over-the-top service has been developed in part and secured by Nagra.

?We are excited to expand our offering to our subscribers with a full VOD catalogue for TV and PC that provides the flexibility viewers have come to expect in the way they consume content,? said Adolfo Remacha CTO at DIGITAL+. ?Nagra?s solutions have made it easy for us to quickly deploy these new services, ensuring the best possible viewing experience for our subscribers and minimizing our operational costs through a common head-end.?

Customers pay a monthly ?5 premium to access iPlus, which already delivers HD and 3D content, and features a 500 GB hard disk. ?We have a longstanding relationship with DIGITAL+ and are thrilled to continue to partner with them in delivering these value-added services to their viewers. We look forward to helping them develop their multi-screen strategy,? added Thierry Legrand, VP SMEA at Nagra.

The service will be extended over the next few months to run direct over the PC. Tablet and smartphone-based versions are also planned.
