Completely stumped by this alien 8900 box..................any kind soul help me?

Hi all,

Im used to using a dreambox, but though i would buy this box after recommendations although im starting to wish i didnt!

Ive got spark running all ok and im getting FTA but im stumped as to how to get my cline working on it:(

I believe i need a emu plug ins file that will reinstall mgcam and then i can some how enter in my details via ftp although i dont believe the ftp server part of the box is functioning properly.

Under enigma 2 ive installed the PKTeam_Nebula image but am having trouble setting it up for uk 28.2 use as the option is not in the drop down box.

I cant install the sat.xml file as i cant log in via ftp or telnet as it wont work via the default user/pass settings.

I might stand a chance of getting it working under enigma 2 if i could log in to the damn thing.

Ideally i would like to get the cline working under both spark and enigma.

I have read and read but im still stumped after 3 days.

hi guys ive been trying loads of images tonight and ended up with HDMU image and ive managed to load rats bouquet so i have a channel list.

Got mgcam working although i have to restart it every time the box starts and erm thats it for the moment.

Im getting all fta channels and subed but im to tired now to carry on anymore lol.

Under spark i understand cccam runs a little pants and keeps glitching, i also understand i need a emu plug in that i put on usb but what one is it i need? I dont want to stuff up my new box:)

Few other questions.

Do i get a usb hub and plug in a usb stick for picons+epg and time shift with a hard drive for recordings? As my dreambox had 3usb on it. I used a usb stick for epg and picons and hard drive for recordings.

Also i want to install a decent epg and have been wondering whether i need to use a usb stick for that.

Sorry mate i dont mean to be rude but i didnt quite understand that.

What FTP program are you using? I'm using cuteftp pro and have had no difficulties getting into the box or with setting it up. I must admit though i cheated a bit with mine. I just used dreamboxedit and just transferred. my channels list from my Gigablue over to it

Are you running the newest version of PKT Nebula?

Can't comment on Spark as i don't use it. I would remove it completely if it was possible.

I have no 28.2e HD issues and i can't remember the last time it locked up on me. The SHD-8900 is running perfect for me.

Just waiting for the PKTeam to impliment the 28.2e fix on the Alien 2 so i can get it back down from on top of the cupboard again and start to play with it once more. At the moment i think the Alien 2 is a horrendous box, and to think i was going to replace my Gigablue with it.

Regardless as to what some people have said about the build quality of the Gigablue, i still think at this present moment in time iits a better box than the Alien 2.

Thanks for that i did that exactly but just couldnt see the 28.2 e in the service settings to select it but it worked regardless.

Seeing as you have one whats the next step to sort epg,picons,and pvr features. Do i just use a usb hard drive for it all or do i just get a hub and use usb stick and a hard drive??

How have you got on with spark? as i quite like but cant work out how to use softcams on it as i cant find the plugins files that i need.
