a friend gave me a dream box dm 500-s its a tiny reciever when i turn it on the pli imaqge comes on the screen just flashes from pli screen to black screen then stays on black screen can some one help please

Press menu or blue button, do you get access to any menu or has the image frozen? You may just have a black screen because there is no channel list loaded or you havn`t done a manual scan on the satellite..
You could try these images that have everything you need preloaded..
