Help setting up CCcam

    Thanks for the very useful explanation, it clears up a lot of stuff.


    However, being the noob that I am, I still don't understand the following:


    I have a sat subscription but the receiver provided by the operator is quite weak (ok, it's crap).
    I just bought a new hd receiver and thought that I could just use the card in the new receiver and that would be that (I knew beforehand that the card was not paired to the box). However this is not the case, I still had to install CCcam to be able to read my card on the new receiver. I don't quite understand why... Someone care to explain?


    Also, I read that CCcam is an emulator; what is it emulating?

    1st we need to know what card you have ! For example white card by uk provider !


    Emulate means copy or Pretend !
    So using software your box can pretend to be a Conditional Access Module or CAM ! These units were hardware based PCMCIA modules that read cards !
    They were all copyrighted !
    So a Softcam like CCcam is a program thats software based which reads cards in this case on board a satellite box


    A great example of emulation is MAME multi arcade machine emulator - Use your pc with this software and it can emulate or pretend to be virtually any arcade machine game you can think of or remember in my case joint10


    Anyway over to you lets see where this goes ?

    Hi there and sorry for the hijack; i got carried away ;)


    I'm with a portuguese provider (sounds like miao) and my setup is up and running on a Vu+ solo2 w/ Blackhole and CCcam.
    The thing is I tried it with the original box image and no EMUs and thought that that should work as I thought the box would be able to read my provider's card.
    So I was wondering why I had to use CCcam and what is emulated.


    As far as I can grasp from what you said and what I've read, I need to use the CCcam to emulate a CAM of the type that can read my providers card, is this it?

    YES exactly ! in your case CCcam is using Nagravision or seca protocol !
    So its pretending to be a Nagravision or seca cam _
    Its a very powerful program which took many years to perfect !
