Linux editor - reader ???

I use vi , but I'd practise on something you don't mind breaking first - it's very powerfull & assumes you know what you're doing . you can corrupt thing very easily. golden rule is make a copy of file before you edit it. I've been useing vi for years on unix . I'd recomend buying a 4 or 8gb usb flash & loading linux distro like ubuntu first . If you boot a pc or laptop from it & you trash it by 'playing' about , you can just reload & have another practice. most Linux STB's use a debian based linux like ubuntu , so practicing on a usb based system first will be a good learning curve & you don't run the risk, ( well as much :baffle:) of toasting your STB.

you could use nano, if your running windows and went to edit and read files etc you could use scp http://winscp.net/eng/index.php
