Hi All.
I am trying to fix this notebook for my nephew have read through the manual and noticed it has a switch on the bottom for wireless connectivity ie wireless switch, tried rebooting after turning switch on and still not finding wireless networks, any advice would be most welcome ?

Does it search for any wireless networks ?
When you flick the switch from off to on, does the computer register the wireless being turned on ?
what operating system are u using
It searches for networks but finds nothing, i turn what i have been told is the switch but doesnt make any difference on or off should it show red when turned on or off this is switch underneath i`m on about ?

cus the wireless on the laptop might be fine but there might not be any wireless networks to search for ?

yes am online now with my own laptop right next to wireless hub and it finds absolutely nothing ?
i am on device manager and there is no yellow triangle so not showing up as faulty or not working ?
i keep refreshing network list but it finds nothing
There is a setting in some routers where you can set it to hide the SSID! Either reset the router OR if you know the EXACT SSID and password for the router tell the note book to connect to a hidden access point and input the details!

Ok, but he was only round last week and it found my router i also have an old pc connected to router and my ipod touch is finding it, anyway as i said it connected to my router over a week ago but now now finding any wireless networks is this a general fault with this machine would it need to be taken back to manufacterer ??
When i go into wireless connection properties and go to wireless networks it has records of wireless routers that it has been connected to and it does show the router i`m trying to connect to, also his notebook would not onnect on his home network either so there is definately a fault ?
Happened to me a few weeks back..
Someone disabled the wireless card thinking they were funny..
Just did a system restore to a week earlier and it worked perfect after!
try uninstalling the wifi card in device manager and reinstalling

System restore like glenviewjf says! just make sure you back everything important up before hand!
are u sure he is not using a 3rd party sotware to handle the wireless network?
If u have a 3rd party tool it will not allow windows wireless tool to search for it!
To use Windows' wireless utility, right-click My Network Places -> Properties (or Control Panel -> Network Connections). Right-click the wireless network and go to Properties. Dig around the Wireless tab you'll find an option to let Windows manage the wireless connection.
