Brand new and unused CDTronix New Horizons NH-210 DISEqC Motor.

I purchased this for a job that fell through about six months ago. Its new and unused just waiting for a new home.

It has engineering grade nylon gears. Its a fallacy that metal gears are better than nylon ones, they just make more noise.

Metal gears cannot handle shock such as excessive gales as there is no give in them, especially when cold, they also require lubrication, when the grease works its way off the gears after a year or so, they start to cause friction when turning and they start to wear out, nylon in effect self lubricates. Thats why metal geared motors suffer from backlash.

I've installed hundreds of motors and i wouldn't say the failure rate isn't any different between the two. Each one has its strong points and weak points that are not the same. I personally don't use metal geared ones now. This year alone its been 7 Dark Motors I've had to replace this year already. All the NH-210 motors I've installed are still going strong.

Its preference at the end of the day which one you prefer.
