looking for a receiver to do......

    Open one this one is.....looking for a receiver for my kids room to fulfil two things....obviously....sat receiver for one - ccam compatible but more importantly something that can play stuff directly from my windows server....either by dlna or just opening a network share. Most of my stuff is mkv but it would be nice for it be able to play the other stuff like .ts .avi etc etc. Ive got a vu+ as the main box in the house and I know I can chuck mkv's on their directly but playing from the server would be nice.


    Anyone got any suggestions??

    dlna client apps on even the best enigma2 boxs are not great, they use upnp dlna browser plugin which really just mounts the drive on your dlna server to your stb, better off getting a cheap dlna capable TV or dlna media box & cheap stb..
    I have the house wired with cat6, I use Serviio as media server so all the ipads, android tabs, iphones etc connect wireless serviio server & the samsung TV's wired (also It can stream .mkv .ts .avi etc)..
    Any dlna device in the house can connect to the server and watch anything (With kids, Id suggest Pro Version because you can filter content)


    I would suggets a DM500 & dlna capable media player for the kids room..

    Yeah - that was my feeling - two boxes for the job......thanks for verifying that for me. I already use mezzmo to do the dlna stuff and have got various streamers tablets and tvs round the house....would have been nice to have done the whole job in one box....never mind.

    Havent come across that one before - where can you get them from? and how much are they - also - are there images for them....?

    These are closed source receivers so your reliant on the manufacturers releasing updated firmware, I'm not sure if there are any patched versions available but you won't fine enigma style images for them.
