Ubuntu is no better or worse than Debian m8, its all down to personal preference really.. If you do reinstall, make sure to backup all your current oscam configs..

You just add the reader to oscam.server
If you still have your D+ card, just make the group in the above reader for 0963 = 2:
Also, If this is your second omnikey, change the device = 1
