duff dm800se clone?

  • Hi all

After many years with my good old DM500S I decided to upgrade to a cloned DM800SE. I bought it for approx £150 including a 250GB HDD, the additional fan and DHL delivery.

When I received it the HDD was not installed - which looked odd. I followed the instructions on the dreambox site to install but now it is seen as a 120GB HDD which has failed. The label on it says it's seagate 250GB but thedreambox sees it as a Fujitsu disk. DUFF DISK?

The other BIGGER problem I have is that despite trying a few images (GP3 and Merlin for instance) i cannot get the Dreambox to see my tivusat card. I have tried Scam and CCCam, most versions I can download. I have tried both slots. No result...the hardware info sees the slots and maps them to /dev/sic1 and /dev/sic2 and the softcams to start (I can see it from the logs) but the card is not reported. DUFF CARD SLOTS?

I am getting desperate. Please help..

    Thank you.

  • sure, no problem at all...I'd rather introduce myself than touch that DM800SE..

I love DMs as I love computers and love to play with satellites: a dreambox is the combination of the two worlds. I can spend time playing on my linux system and now I find myself spending hours logging into the dreambox. What annoys me is seeing how badly this one was put together...

In any case all i would like to achieve is to get my tivusat card to be seen, i don't think much can be done about that drive.

As for the rest i have two dishes one the roof, one pointing to Astra2 and one for hotbird. Getting the hotbird one up there was another challenge but that is another story.

Not sure what else to mention..would be grateful for some help and promise to share any findings. For starters the above link should not be used to purchase DM clones...

  • apologies, I have now introduced myself in the correct way..I am still struggling with this...

I am using this image: GP3-dm800se-2013-ramiMAHER.nfi

I have installed cccam 2.3.0 and removed ccam 2.2.1

    CCcam is running:
    root@dm800se:/etc# ps auxwww| grep -i cccam
    873 root 116m S /usr/bin/CCcam_2.3.0
    874 root 116m S /usr/bin/CCcam_2.3.0
    875 root 116m S /usr/bin/CCcam_2.3.0
    876 root 116m S /usr/bin/CCcam_2.3.0
    877 root 116m S /usr/bin/CCcam_2.3.0
    878 root 116m S /usr/bin/CCcam_2.3.0
    879 root 116m S /usr/bin/CCcam_2.3.0
    880 root 116m S /usr/bin/CCcam_2.3.0
    881 root 116m S /usr/bin/CCcam_2.3.0
    882 root 116m S /usr/bin/CCcam_2.3.0
    883 root 116m S /usr/bin/CCcam_2.3.0

    886 root 116m S /usr/bin/CCcam_2.3.0
    898 root 116m S /usr/bin/CCcam_2.3.0

no config is needed theoretically so not config is in place:
    909 root 2584 S grep -i cccam
    root@dm800se:/etc# grep -i found /var/log/messages
Aug 5 21:27:21 dm800se daemon.debug CCcam: read config: cannot open /var/etc/CCcam.cfg or not found
Aug 5 21:27:21 dm800se daemon.debug CCcam: readKeyfile: cannot open /var/keys/SoftCam.Key or not found
Aug 5 21:27:21 dm800se daemon.debug CCcam: readKeyfile: cannot open /var/keys/AutoRoll.Key or not found
Aug 5 21:27:21 dm800se daemon.debug CCcam: static cw not found or bad

Aug 5 21:27:21 dm800se daemon.debug CCcam: readChannelList: cannot open /var/etc/CCcam.channelinfo or not found
    root@dm800se:/etc#

but if I create CCcam.cfg cobbled up from stuff on the web and enable debugging I get the below:

    root@dm800se:/var/log# cat /etc/CCcam.cfg

Not sure what is going on...the card worked in my DM500S till a couple of weeks ago..

  • uhmm..pointing to <myboxipaddress>:16001 I get

    Welcome to CCcam 2.3.0 server

    card reader /dev/sci0
    no or unknown card inserted

    card reader /dev/sci1
    no or unknown card inserted

which make me think I have either a duff card or a duff reader.

the card was worked till a couple of weeks ago and is currently active (checked on tivusat.tv) so this looks like a DUFF DM800SE...
