yes to pip and yes to wake for a recording but not to wake for EPG update ( no box can do this ).

now for the shameless image plug.
ViX has a very advanced and totally original power timers function that allows you to set custom times for the box going in and out of deep standby among other things. you could use this feature to wake the box at a pre-set time say ten minutes before your EPG is scheduled to update, then go back to deep standby say 5 minutes after.

sadly in the twins case it's hardware related. at one point simply pressing the front power button would kill all power to the box like a physical on / off button, it took us a very long time to convince them this was a fault and needed correcting which they did with a VFD chip upgrade. you can now use standby and deep standby which was not fully possible on the first models but it still has its limitations, same as the very first duo revisions that could not wake for recordings.
