Alma s2300 combi Help

Hi i recently got my hands on an Alma S2300 combi. Everything worked fine until i noticed the movies playing out of sync so i was told an upgrade was needed so i researched the web and found an upgrade and proceeded to go ahead with it after the upgrade the box went into a continuous loop of "on ON S7r7 2611" and refused to start up doing the same thing over and over. I've heard the box can be reset using a null cable and re installing but am unsure how to do this.Like does the null modem cable need a driver to access the box?
