Anyone know the reason why a powered usb hub improves ecm timing ?

    Anyone know the reason why a powered usb hub improves ecm timing.
    My old fashioned approach to things is the less stuff in the loop the better. Maybe I an wrong. My mind is still in analogue mode. Just given my age away, ha ha.

  • Because the voltage and current drain from the usb port wont be strained.
    A lot of usb ports dont have great current to supply readers/ect
    and the more current you draw could also drop the voltage slightly
    the you reader drops off a bit LOL

    Thanks for your response.
    I think I misunderstood the original post when I read it. It probably was comparing a smargo in a usb port and one in a 4 way hub. I looked like the author was saying that if you take smargo out of the usb slot and put it in a powered hub your ecm timing would improve. Thought I was losing the plot.
