hi all.could anyone help me with this question? i just want to know how you know if your box needs the firmware updating?is there an obvious sign or not?also what is the firmware and what does it do?ive upgraded channel lists before but never firmware as dont know what it does for my box.thanks

If everything works for you ok no need to change firmware and maybe make a mess of it.

For the S11 there is not much difference in what you get when you change firmware it is a matter of stability that is why I suggested stay with the firmware you have.

a moot point since there hasn't been any new firmware since feb 2012 so there is no "new" firmware.
