Liverpool city centre bar fined £65,000 for showing Premier League games.

  • The Premier League has won a second High Court case against a pub using unauthorised satellite systems to broadcast matches.

The High Court ordered the First National Wine Bar, in James Street, Liverpool city centre, to pay £65,000 to the Premier League in costs and awarded an injunction against the premises.

A league statement said the pub was “infringing our copyright with its broadcasts of Premier League football via Al Jazeera (recently rebranded as beIN Sports) channels”.

It is the second case in the space of six weeks that has seen the High Court rule that using unauthorised systems in a pub to broadcast matches infringes copyright.

The other case involved a Danish satellite system.
