Look here buddy ==> BlackHole 2.X.X Softcam Collection
where is the binary located to swap with a newer file?
yes but it has its full name oscam 1.20-9460 and is 1,198 kb. that's thrown me off. its large. do I have to rename it the same?
ftp the one that is in usr/bin over to your desktop for safe keeping. Then rename it in usr/bin as "oscam.old" once you have done that ftp the new version of oscam over to usr/bin and have it named "oscam"
Re-start your box after doing this...
that's the way I would normally do it but it wouldn't start the last time. in the config folder I have the folder name the same as the oscam binary and usually its in the config folder without being foldered again

I have not used blackhole in a while but i never had a problem to be ohnest.
Try deleting everything you have done so far and choose an ipk from the softcam packs that masterG has linked you to...so for instance if you chose the ipk oscam8639 and mgcamd then after install and reset look in your directory @ usr/bin...delete the oscam bin that is in there taking a note of what it is named as/then copy the version i have attached to the same directory and rename it exactly as the older version was and reboot your box.
Attached version 9705 for you to try.
