when set to record the box says there is a software problem and needs to shutdown, it then says it will restart after 10 seconds but nothing happens even after 10 minutes i have turned it off and restarted again works again but same again when recording any suggestions please.

is harddrive ok but i would just flash new latest image

Ideally you should also list the image version you are using as well as uploading a copy of one of the generated crash logs, otherwise people are just guessing as to the cause of your problem and that helps no one.
