    Hi All,


    I am new to this and looking to be pointed in the right direction. What it is, is i have built my self a HTPC and i am looking to add a TBS6982 DVB-S2 card to it and connect my sly digital sat dish to my HTPC build to watch the free to air channels that can be recived. Then once i am a bit more knowledgeable on the whole process i look to connect my sly box to my HTPC and get involved in the card sharing community. My starting point is i have win 7 installed but i am thinking with using linux for anything to do with the sat dish, can someone advise me where i would find the info to help me progress from here and i if it the right direction i am heading in.

    It will be useless for sharing bud.... it's a closed source receiver...


    Your thinking is correct regards using Linux as a operating system for sat stuff, loads of support on here for setting up a server on a pc....

    Yes it is possible, but if your sly card is paired to a HD box then it will need to be paired to a SD receiver (that's if they will even do it anymore...) to be able to be used for sharing.
