Query on rar files

    I have just downloaded 2 .rar files from this support group and would like to open them. How do you do this? as in the past I have been told to steer clear of rar files as they can contain malware or virus/Trojan files. So I have never tried to open 1. They are firmware update files for my HD receiver.

    Most if not all attachments here have been vetted prior to being uploaded, that said not all have been vouched for but you will rarely if ever get any form of virus or malware from a attachment here or many of the other equally reputable sat forums, but having good antivirus / anti malware software on your PC is a must so as long as thats upto date you will be fine. as for opening the files I use 7-zip for that, it's very powerful and free.
