Windows Firewall and Port forwarding

  • This might come in handy if you use Windows 7 (may apply for other OS) and are forwarding ports. I've just gone through the port changing process. Changed the rules in my router and sorted everything out in my AV firewall but canyouseeme.org still couldn't see my port. I have the Windows firewall disabled on my pc to avoid conflicts with the AV program. But it turns out that this isn't entirely true. After applying inbound port rules in Windows Firewall, everything was up and running instantly. To do this:

    • Control panel --> Windows Firewall
    • Enter Advanced Settings on left panel
    • Click Inbound Rules in left panel then click New Rule in right panel
    • Select Port and then Next
    • Select TCP and specify the port you want open
    • Allow the connection and next and you're done
