DM800HD SE Sunray

    hi, ive got a DM800HD SE and i did a software update on it and now i have an error on the screen so i need to reflash it but the problem i have is the ethernet port has no lights so i was only using a wifi adaptor for it, is there any way these boxes can be reflashed without having to use the ethernet port? ive tried using the service port with no luck, also i see the fix for the ethernet port on the dm800 but it dosent show the components needed for fixing the SE version

    you mean like thru the service port ? so i can use optiflasher to flash the box with a new image and bootloader thru the usb service port without having to have a working ethernet port? thanks for your help i just hope ive not killed it

    Its something i never had to do with mine, but i should imagine it would be the same as my old DM7020si where the image had to be sent to the box through the RS232 port.

    still getting this problem even with optiflasher i think you can only flash if you use the network cable and miniusb connected to the service port

    You should be able to update it through just the usb. If you use Dreamup just make sure you dont tick the use network box and it should just use the USB.


    It will only use the USB if you tick the box and add the boxes IP address.

    i had this prob, i connected through the service port but i had to install the driver for the cable before dreamup would recognise the box i, it came up com5, then it just reflashed as normal, i installed the driver from dreambox toolbox

    thanks im just wondering if there are different types of mini usb i saw a 5 pin version and the one im trying was just one i got with an old mp3 player :/


    also has anyone ever repaired the ethernet port on the 800se mine just seems to be getting no power to it IE: no lights on the back of the port at all

    Its not something i have seen done before,although its not impossible, its just knowing which bit that has failed which is the problem.


    Best bet is speak to your local satellite retailer to see if they might be able to fix it, failing that you could just try to get hold of a new or second hand motherboard. Your tuner and SIM should work fine in any other DM800se board, regardless of if its original or clone.

    ok well i think it might be cheaper to just buy a new box lol, just really hope i can flash it somehow just using the service port im gonna try some different versions of dreamup and try my old xp pc and a smaller image and thenmaybe install barry allen if all goes well!! ..... thanks for all your help lads and anymore information would be greatly appreciated :81:
