Does anyone use an external hard drive via esata connection for recordings?

I want to get a new STB with modular tuners and am looking at the Mut@nt HD 2400 or AX Quadbox but they don't support 3.5" internal hard drives. I've got too many of them laying around to "waste" money on a 2.5" hard drive for recordings.

Is there any noticable lag or problems saving/viewing recordings on an esata external hard drive compared to internal?

    Thanks.

  • Thanks for your reply rigrat.

I'd just like to get a warm fuzzy from someone who is actually using esata to make sure there is no noticable lag or mount problems.

My other half would kill me if it's not as responsive as an internal drive.
