The gap between the glue and the chip was almost nothing even a razor would have been impossible to get access freezer yes a good idea but this stuff is silicone based it wont freeze , it was like bath sealant

Why have a 4 port hub, what are you aiming for?
I find this very interesting.
-
5v feed for fan off usb ,usb port for hard drive ,and 1 more port so the security token or dongle dont need to be in an external port as only 2 internal ports inside the wetek ,I could make my life easy and stick one of them outside but the whole reason for doing this is to have it self contained

good job done mate

Here is a pdf of the wetek for hole positions and an idea of where to drill venting holes for anyone that wants to try fit a 2.5 inch drive , though it may be handy as you only get one shot at drilling and if its wrong you cover will look a mess , I dare say you could use a strip of meccano to pitch holes neatly with a cordless drill as not everyone has access to a milling machine ,please cross check this and print actual size

-
Oh how I would love to be your neighbour and sit in on your projects.
Tidy piece of work,well done.
-
Put a resister in line to slow the fan a bit now its very hard to hear unless your right at the Wetek with your ear same amount of noise as a drive , thats it job done admin can close this thread , been on 1 hour again and its 147 degrees way better than a standard wetek
-
nice work mate
is the bigger heat sink and fan better than ur first one -
The first one was only sitting there I hadnt fixed it as i knew the other one was in the post , but id say yes its got more surface area and the fan bigger in diameter but apart from that it looks better and 3 cost me £6 only the other one was about that on its own , so ill be doing my sons box soon once I set it up for him been watching hd for a while since the last post and cant get the cpu past 180 degrees so with a full soak i cant see this going over 200 degrees and thats with the fan just ticking over
