Cron job

  • Hi i can anybody help when i setup my server i put a cron job in to clear the log files at 4am this was a couple of years ago i would like to change the time the server does this to 5am i am running ubuntu i can ssh into the server but not to sure what to alter .

  • ftp with winscp to /etc/crontab
    and edit it


    or from a terminal in ubuntu
    type
    sudo -i
    then type your password
    then type


    gedit /etc/crontab


    the crontab file will open
    edit it and save


    look for the txt
    LogCleanUp.sh and edit the time

  • sudo crontab -e


    If this is the first time you have open cron from any linux terminal you will be ask to select 1 -3 nano editor being the easiest
    depending on the command you might have to put a script in the /sbin
