v8 dead or bricked help plz

    hi to all
    im trying to repair my neighbors box. but not sure if its bricked or dead. i have read tut`s on recovering bricked boxes, stuck on load and the like. the box i have shows no sign of life. when i connect a working power ac adapter to the box no lights come on at all. is it possible to repair this box with flashing rs232 method. or am i bucking up the wrong tree.
