How to check tuner ??? ariva 120

Does anyone know how to check the tuner is working or faulty
I cant scan properly I have tried all the usual stuff tried a different box to eliminate disc and lnb problems deleted everything factory reset none worked I cannot get bbc itv channel 4 or 5 or any of those type channels on astra 2, I do get music fta channels and sly news and pick tv plus sly sports etc while messing around
I noticed in the Ferguson Avira 120 hd combo that in the menu, antenna setup, in the lnb settings that the transponders are all in 3000 4000 5000 not the usual 9000 - 12000 anyone know what the setting should be to change them to pick up normal transponders
