Hi There,
I downloaded the plugin to my dm7020hd, worked nicely, but where do I scan for Movies? Do I scan seperately for Series or does it do everything at once? Is there a "how to" for this or a guide?
Thanks
J.

English Information:
Supported file formats: avi, divx, flv, iso, m2ts, m4v, mov, mp4, mpg, mpeg, mkv, ts and vob (single).
Movies/Series file names: The names of the movies and series are determined by the names of the movie files. The TMDb and TVDB APIs expect the exact name of the movie or the series. Each additional word leads to a missmatch or no result.
Movie names of recordings with the box are automatically determinated by the plugin (see next item). For movies that were not recorded with the box the plugin tries to filter out not to the movie name belonging special characters like marks or brackets. Also 50+ typical scene expressions like "720p" or "x264" are filtered from the filenames.
Nevertheless you should make sure that the filenames of movie files that were not recorded with the box are equal as possible to the movie names.
Examples:
The Simpsons Movie.mpg
The.Simpsons.Movie.AC3.720p.XviD.English.avi
The.Simpsons.Movie.2007.English.DTS.DL.1080p.BluRay.x264.mkv
Recordings with the Box are detected automatically by the plugin and and the correct name of the movie is determined, when in the setup of the Image the "Composition of the recording filename" is set to "Standard" or "Short filenames": - - .
Exceptions are series, they must have the Season/Episode numbers in the file name (see next item).
Series Season/Episode numbers: The numbers of the Season/Episode of a series must be present in the filename of the series in the format "S01E01" or "s01e01". Additional information such as the Episodes titles can be according to the Season/Episode number in the filename.
Examples:
20140222 1810 - Fox HD - The Simpsons - S24E03.ts
20140222 1810 - Fox HD - The Simpsons - S24E03 - Adventures in Baby-Getting.ts
The Simpsons - S24E10.mkv
The Simpsons - S24E10 - A Test Before Trying.mkv
Series Specials are recognized as Season 00. The Episodes numbers are continuous, that is, the 1st Special is Episode 1 (S00E01), the 2nd Special Episode 2 (S00E02) etc.
For series the use of the series plugin or the serien recorder plugin is recommended. These plugins can automatically change the name of series recordings into the desired format with the Season/Episode numbers SxxExx.
Database: The database is located in the plugin subfolder /db/ and is in text format. A single database entry consists of the following parts:
name of the movie:::path to movie:::time of record:::running time:::rating:::director:::actors:::genre:::release date:::country:::description:::url of the poster:::url of the backdrop:::category:::seen/unseen:::
The following database options are available:
Backup: With the setup option "Backup Database" a backup of the database is stored in the "backup" subfolder of the cache folder.
Restore: With the setup option "Restore Database" a previously made backup of the database is restored from the "backup" subfolder.
Edit: With the Text button single database values can be edited for the currently selected movie or series, e.g. the title or the rating of a movie.
Update: To check the movie folder for deleted or new movies and series and to download the data from TMDb and TheTVDB, the database must be updated.
There are 3 options to update the database:
Manual: With the Video button you can start a database update inside the plugin.
With Timer: With the setup option "Update Database with Timer" you can schedule every 24 hours an automatically database update, even if the plugin is not active or the box is in standby mode.
At Plugin Start: With this Setup option, the database is automatically updated when the plugin starts. However this can delay the start of the plugin depending on the number of movies and series and the speed of the box.
Log: The Database Update Log is located in the plugin subfolder /log/:
Movie Browser Database Update
Start time: 2014-03-25 11:00:03
End time: 2014-03-25 11:00:32
Total scanned files: 297
TheTVDb Database Requests: 5
TMDb Database Requests: 9
Orphaned Movies/Series: 1
New Series: 4
New Movies: 9
The log file can be shown with the yellow button inside the movie overview (button 1) and is reset at any Enigma restart.
Reset: In case of problems with the database, with the setup option "Reset Database" you can completely delete and recreate the database.
Movies/Series folder: The plugin will search within the "Movie Folder" selected in the setup and any subfolders for movie files. If the movies are in multiple, physically separated folders - e.g. on a second hard drive, another USB stick or a NAS - there are two ways to add one or more additional folders:
Manually: Select in the setup the additional folder as "Movie Folder" and make a database update. The movies of the 1. folder remain in the database, the movies of the 2. folder will be added. Future database updates will synchronize only the movies of the last selected "Movie Folder" in the setup.
Symbolic link: You can create a symbolic link below the "Movie Folder" pointing to the 2. folder (e.g. on a second hard drive or a NAS). The content of the 2. folder is then treated as physically located below the 1. folder and future database updates will automatically synchronize all files in the 1. and 2. folder.
Example:
"Movie Folder": /media/hdd/movie
2. Folder: /media/usb/movie
Telnet command to create the symbolic link:
ln -s /media/usb/movie /media/hdd/movie/usb
For the 2. folder /media/usb/movie the symbolic link /usb was created below the "Movie Folder" /media/hdd/movie.
Attention: Do not create another symbolic link in the 2. folder that points back into the 1. folder! This causes an infinite loop and the movies will be added multiple times to the database.
Sorting & Filters: There are 12 sort options and 6 filters to display the movies. The sorting can be set via the setup, the filters using the buttons 4 - 9. The filter "movies and/or series" (button 5) can be combined with one of the other filters. The last used filter can optionally be loaded at the next start of the plugin.
Note: The alphabetic sorting by movie titles ignores the leading article "The".
Tip: If you want to display only certain movies, e.g. movies for children, you can save the movies in separate folders and use the "Folder Filter" (button 6).
Wallpapers/Backdrops: The backdrops can be converted into the on the box faster m1v format as described below:
From a PC access the cache directory of the plugin, e.g. via Samba.
Copy the files needed for the conversion into the cache directory: FFmpeg Windows 32-bit or FFmpeg Windows 64-bit
Run "startConvert.bat"
Enable in the setup of the plugin "Support m1v Backdrops"
You can also run the script automatically e.g. once daily with the Windows "Task Scheduler".
Icons:
The icons for the audio format, the resolution, the aspect ratio and the video codec of a movie are shown when the movie has been started and the information has been read from the movie file.
An "3D" icon is displayed when the name or the folder of the movie file contains "3D".
Examples:
/media/hdd/movies/20140405 0020 - Sky 3D - Ali.ts
/media/hdd/movies/3d/Ali.2001.English.DTS.DL.1080p.x264.mkv
Jump to movie/series with first letter: After pressing one of the arrow keys you can choose the desired initial letter with the numeric keys similar to writing a sms. A final pressure of the Ok button is not necessary: after 2 seconds without any input, the last initial letter is selected and the list will jump to the first entry beginning with the letter.
Alternatively, you can choose with multiple pressures of the arrow keys the select group of letters, e.g. "DEF", and then press the Ok button for the single letter. Again, the last displayed initial letter is automatically selected if 2 seconds no input is performed.
Greenscreen: When you create the database in the Movie Browser and you get a greenscreen (GS) check the filenames of your movies for non UNIX-compliant signs, eg. ü or ö. These signs occur when network shares are mounted with an incorrect codepage. In that case mount the network share with the correct codepage or correct the filenames of your movies.
The Key Assignment can be shown with the Help Button inside the Plugin:
Yellow Button: search YouTube Trailer
Green Button: search on Wikipedia for more information of the movie, director or artists

OK, seems to work. How long does the update take? It runs in the background I assume ... could it be that it stops when I open the plugin too early? Does it send an info screen when it is finished?
Also I do not seem to see the backdrop pictures nor the cover pictures ... do I have to enable it somehow?
Sorry for all the questiones, but this plugin is new for me ..
Thanks,
J.
