  • hi all my sons hdmi port packed in on his s9 openbox turned it off at the mains and the nexted day switched it back on and it said v.format tryed that would not work ?? so i used the scart out put and it works ok ???? tryed a ll settings on hdmi but no joy ? has anybody any ideas to try or has the hdmi port packed in ????

  • Just seen this issue on an EagleBox and was cured by connecting it to scart or AV, going to the video settings and changing the format to RGB - obvioulsy ruling out dodgy HDMI first.

If I take a while to respond, you can see why.....

  • doubt it - seems very common issue - just google 'No OSD Show, Press V.Format Key to Switch' and there is a lot about it. There are solutions out there but hard for me to interpret unless I had the receiver, - most people say pressing the vformat button, slowly, giving each press time to work, until it displays (while connected with HDMI) - doing it too fast won't give time for it to react.

  • musogeek i found this not my work but worked for me to get the openbox hdmi port working again

I just tried this "blind" procedure.

    1) Turn off switch on the back for a few seconds, then power up. Wait a

minute or two for your picture to slowly return.
At this point you probably have a rolling picture with a nag box

    message "NO OSD DISPLAY"

    2) Press menu once, tv show (if you even had one) disappears. Just

    rolling nag box now.

    3) Press arrow down two times. This is where you are blind from here on

(you are on the third line of the system setup page).

    4) Right arrow once (this is language selection) then down once (this

is tv system) press "OK" to select

    5) You are now sitting where we want to be on the "Video Resolution"

Press arrow right, wait 30 sec and right arrow again wait again. There

are seven selections in here, keep pushing then wait each time until

you see where you are in the menu. Then select the mode you need.

I use 1080i_60, auto, yuv, lpcm out for these settings with my hdmi tv

    output.
For the composite to work with older tv's select 480i.

EDIT: never push the V format key again. This takes you to European

settings only. Use the menu's for any video mode changes you want to

    try.
