How does a dish know when to stop turning? Do I need a bigger bracket?

  • I've decided to put my motorised 110cm dish on the back of my house (after no complaints from her indoors).
I have a 12 inch T&K Wall Bracket, it's an east facing wall, even with the motor the dish would probably be 18 inches away from the wall, so no room to point the dish completely south.

How does the dish normally stop turning, just don't tune it in to a south or west facing satellite, or is there something else?

I could put the dish on the back of my garage, but it doesn't look like there's any ku band satellites to pick up in the west anyway, no sense giving the neighbours ammunition to fire at me. Or am I wrong about those satellites?
