also remember if your Uno has only a single tuner you will have to put it into standby so the other receiver can use it's tuner, if your Uno has a dual tuner you can continue to watch T as the other receiver will use a spare tuner.

Telnet can show you how much ram is in use but many receivers use some of this ram for system use and that will not show up via telnet, the best way to know for certain is to create a bootlog as this will show every thing.

It's built into the ViX image manager so not a plugin, however any member of the OE-Alliance can take this code and use it in their images too. There is a tutorial on this forum showing how to use this feature and ill update that soon to reflect the new updates etc.

You can update your image via the network on these receivers, depending on the image you use, you can also restore a image directly from within the image if using ViX as we have recently reinstalled this ability from our older series v1.xx series images.

Five player was abandoned as far as i know.

Yeah thats Correct, I still have the files on my laptop or had before I formatted last week, the player it self works great like all others but virtually all content is DRM Protected so you could watch really old kids stuff on there.

We may go back to it in the future but if the DRM is still a issue I can't see it ever being released.

It's a satellite receiver not a media player, so not all formats will be supported in the limited hardware codecs these receivers use. There is very little you can do about this.

prior to sending the catseyes bouquet to your receiver generate a new satellites.xml file from

    Code
    www.satellites-xml.org

that contains all the locations you want to receive including 28.2 east and swap it out with the default satellites.xml file that comes with the catseyes settings, then just send them over as normal and all will be fine again. ( you only need do this about once a month as the transponders them selves rarely change. )

ABM does not touch the satellites.xml file in /etc/enigma2 when it builds it's bouquet list.

Thanks m8, I think my answer will be to add a cron to delete the file from enigma2 folder.. I just don't want to have to ftp to my box every time I update bouquets..

To be honest mate i would not bother, it's has been this way for almost 2 years without any issues, its only recently that catseyes settings have started to go wrong with the satellites.xml files he uses for some reason.

A better way would be to generate a new satellites.xml file from

    Code
    www.satellites-xml.org

to replace the one in his settings until such a time as he rectifies the problems on his end, as it is a problem on his end.

    Another point here.

You can of course set your bouquet manager to use /etc/tuxbox as the default location to write the satellites.xml file to when transferring the satellites.xml file to the image. This is not recommended however as you will be overwriting the master file and it will be overwritten upon a image update any way.

Thank you pheonix, couple of questions..

1.. Is there a way to never create a satellites.xml file in enigma2 folder so I will always use the master file? I did not manually create this file, I think it came in with the catseye settings.
2.. How does the ViX Update decide exactly what satellites & transponders are updated in the master satellites.xml? I ask this because I created my own satellites.xml file with all sats & it is twice the size of the .xml file that gets updated through the ViX online update..

    1. All bouquet packs come with their own satellites.xml file, so every single time you send a bouquet pack to your receiver you are overwriting this file.

If the image sees a satellites.xml file in /etc/enigma2 it will always default to this file. You can of course manually delete the file from /etc/enigma2 after transferring the bouquet to the box, then after a restart it will again fall back to the default file in /etc/tuxbox.

    2. We use a custom script to scrape our own database at

    Code
    www.satellites-xml.org

this is our own site that is similar to

    Code
    satellites-xml.eu

but differs as we have options to only grab working transponders and not the often dead and unused feeds transponders, this allows us to generate a satellites.xml file that is almost half the size of those used by others while still being able to receive all channels.

The satellites.xml file in etc/tuxbox is the default master file and is updated every time you update the image.
The satellites.xml file in etc/enigma2 is the user file. if a file is found in this location it will take over from the master file and will not be updated unless you update it your self.

This is the case with Pli, ViX and ALL Pli and OE-A based images and always has been since Pli 2.0, ViX 2.0, OE-A 3.0

when ever you place a satellites.xml file into etc/enigma 2 you need to reboot the image in order for it use this file, when you delete this file you againj need to reboot to restore to the master file.

The single best solution is to google your TV's make and model and overscan. you need to turn this off from the TV it self as with it active every thing connected to the TV is loosing a sizable portion of the viewing area not just your satellite. if for what ever reason you can't do that you need to adjust the OSD ( on screen display )

menu - setup - system - user interface - position setup ( That should be the correct path off the top of my head ).

The following aims to show you in a easy to follow tutorial, how to reflash the image on your receiver from within the ViX image, without the need of a USB stick.

This method works for all receivers currently supported by the ViX image team that already have the ViX 3.0-668 or higher image on them.

This method of flashing or restoring a image will work with any image from any team, it will work with personal backups and virgin untouched images alike.

the cpu tends to hot to very hot thats normal with a vu duo/solo2
if it stays cold your fcked
try buttin back the image you had in it or an original vix image LOL

i'm not quite sure what your basing that on but i have a stack of 5 receivers in font of me now with a DUO LE at the bottom and a solo2 at the top and the solo2 is warm to the touch and always is.

as has been said many many times before.

Linux works differently to windows in that it considers unused memory as wasted and will use as much as it can for as long as it can until something requests to use that memory. this is perfectly normal behavior.

pheonix would say that because he is heavily involved in ViX - it could be a biased view. :muaha:

So for a definitive non biased view, I would say...I agree with pheonix and rate ViX as the best image out there for any receiver it supports:10lol:

yes i agree i am highly biased towards ViX but i'm also brutally honest, if i thought for a split second that there was a better alternative i would say so.
