you can use the same bouquets, timers and autotimers.xml files, plugins such as cams etc but dont ever try to load a backup image from one box to another as it will end in tears.

Thanks for that pheonix I have someone on line trying to help me setup and he asked me to download it although I had read there were some issues with it. I live in Mid Wales, any chance of coming round for a cuppa? :wales: I am a newbie to linux  sorry for that

LMAO no can do, im sat at work just of the north east coast, be a mighty long walk that would.

What exactly are you looking for on the Tspanel ? as frankly you are likely to be able to find almost every thing you need either in this forum or via the image feeds.

I would advise against using Tspanel on any Pli or OE-Alliance image including OpenViX as it overwrites image critical system files which in turn are known to cause problems. We our selves briefly gave in to user requests to include the Tspanel in our own feeds then again removed it shortly after due to it causing problems with the timeshift functionality of the image.

That said it is your choice and with that if you must use it find the Mips32el version.

Depends on the method by which you move the motor. for example if set to USALS (Universal Satellite Automatic Location System), you wont get any options to fine tune the position at all as it's done by your geographical position IE your longitude and latitude. if the motor is DiSEqC (Digital Satellite Equipment Control) 1.2 then you can fine tune the position easily for every satellite position if needed.

The solo2 does not have any bootloader update so dont even attempt to flash one to a solo2 or you will permanently kill your receiver, also be aware that although flashing a bootloader is a relatively easy task it is akin to a Bios update on a PC so if it goes wrong you can say bye bye to your receiver, only update bootloader when absolutely necessary.

The file above is for the solo otherwise it would be named solo2

Technically nothing but a Dreambox image or one created directly from the opendreambox GIT can be classified as OE 1.6 or OE 2.0 ( Yes i'm really that anal when it comes to such topics ), That said BH is equivalent to OE 1.6 although Vu who BH are directly based from are supposed to be releasing a New OE soon

also which exact image and version are we talking about here ?.

The receiver is in whats called a bootloop, you should be able to reflash it without any problems but what drivers are you speaking about ??.

as for the wife friendly bit I would recommend the ViX image ( YES we all know i'm severely biased, but in my opinion it's the easiest to setup and run for a novice )

This is a post from else where so i take no credit for it.

Linux uses the term 'free' differently to the average person. In other words if you want to know how much memory is free consider the example below:

    $ free
total used free shared buffers cached
    Mem: 2050768 1965940 84828 0 16456 429872
    -/+ buffers/cache: 1519612 531156
    Swap: 975868 684856 291012

You would assume my 'free' memory is 84828 (about 4%) but it's not, the ACTUAL 'free' memory is closer to:

    (Used - (Buffers + Cached)) + Free = 1604440 (about 78%).

This is about 'normal'. While it's true that there can be a memory 'cock-up' from time to time, 99.9% of the time if you mess with memory management you'll simply detract from overall performance of a Linux system. If you add memory to a Linux system it will usually simply be gobbled up straight-away leaving an apparent ~5% free.

This NOT how Windows works and free memory in the two systems have different meanings and different impacts.

However, if you're a developer or need to manage memory more effectively you should probably look at kernel commit parameters in the first instance followed by the process 'kill' configuration - the so-called OOM-killer.

As always I decided to clear the cache in my flash by installing origional vu software drivers, think it was called version7.

Cant really help much but this part is a total myth, every time you flash a image it first erases the flash before loading the new image onto the receiver. Take my word for it on this as i have flashed my 6 receivers several thousands of times and never once loaded the OI to flush the cache ( because it does not ).

It could be any number of things, CrossEPG is well knows for corrupting easily.

I would start a telnet session between the receiver and PC, then kill enigma with the init 4 command. then FTP into the receiver and delete all traces of the EPG.dat file and reboot the box just to make sure.
