just said i would give an update as i have been out of the countryfor a while . I managed to install / flash the latest openatv image on to the box . i was doing the flashing process wrong for a while as i never included the 2 extra files bootarg.bin and fastboot.bin along with the folder H9 on the usb stick but when i re read the flashing process for this particular model it worked perfectly .

Set up the box as per kiddac suggestions ,

Downloaded bmx and jediepgextreme and epg import .

The only problem i have is getting the recording function to work . followed the instructions on the box in setting up a HDD , ext 4 , but the box is recognising the 1 TB Hdd but when i try to record onto it , it says Hdd full , no storage , i have tried a 250 gb Hdd aswell and a 6 tb SSD but the same result every time . The box dosent even recognise the 6 tb SSD , this SSD is connected with a USB to a USB c Lead and no other power supply , the 1tb HDD has its own 12 volt power supply , dont know if this is relevant as to why the box wont pick up the 6TB SSD .

. I also dont have the option on my pc to initially format the recording drives to fat 32 and then format on the box . ex fat and ntfs seem to be my options on my pc , i have tried both file systems when formatting initially on the pc before placing the HDD or SSD in the box and then following boxes instructions .

i must be doing something wrong maybe with the mount point or the order i am doing the set up . Do i set up mount point first and then format hdd or the other way round . Any ides guys or is there a link somewhere to setting up the HDD for recording . thanks .

Then follow my instructions on my setup guide post 8 of this thread. Follow them step by step.

Once everything is set up with that older image. Then we can try a later image either via usb or flash online.

I Cant install anything on the box never mind flash expander . The factory reset option was so i could start again with a clean box with no leftover crap files on the box . i am hoping to get advice how to start with a fresh box with no crap leftover files on it from previous attempts to flash the box .so i can flash it with a new image .

i flashed the box last week with the open atv image 7.6 dated 19/05/2026 with the Flash online option. As i said everything went smoothly and i didnt restore any settings when prompted , just a clean install or so i thought , everything was going to plan , then the problems started , recognising the Hdd and allowing me to record onto it but i got that sorted , i also checked the network after fiddling around with the ipv6 settings so evrything was working eventually , wasnt sure what answer to give for " wake on Lan " so i answered yes . , went into network settigs and did the network test and everything was working ,

however the problems started when i tried to download bmx to create bouquets for my iptv service . i used jmx the last time on the old image open atv 6.4 and it worked perfect .

BMX started downloading and stopped halfway during the download , tried a few times but same result . i tried other plugins but nothing installed . i tried to manually install bmx last night and even though box picked up the ipk file on the usb stick it wouldnt install it or any other plugins on the stick . i tried to reflash box with a different image from the list in the distribution section of flash online section , went halfway but no joy . everytime i reboot box open atv 7.6 logo flashes up and the original open atv start up image that was on 6.4 flashes onscreen for a second before the 7.6 logo appears . i get warnings about bmx not being installed , do i want to clear warning but it keeps coming back when i go into plugins which makes me think there are still files stuck in the box even though i did a factroy reset . i dont mind configuring my set up again with channells in satellite and dvb tuner if i can get the box operating as it should . All i want it for is Satellite , dvb terrestrials chns and iptv chns to work and the box to record . i have no intention of downloading stupid plugins which i will never use as i imagine this will slow the box down .

doing a factoryreset is a no no. you may be getting the openatv splashscreen as that can be embedded.

openatv is best for that box, go menu information about and see what it says. and report back

Hi , thanks for reply , the Hdd is connected via usb but i got that working , i know i hit the problems in spots but i wa trying to minimise the length of the post . The box keeps telling me i have openatv 7.6 installed in the about section of the box no matter if i try to reflash a different image . I cant flash a completely different image online anyway for some reason . The reason i done a factory reset was i thought it might get rid of any rogue files or other crap on my box that was interfereing with a fresh install .

As the images are updated you would think installation should be simpler and trouble free but that dosent seem to be the case with my box . if i could wipe the box clean of any crap leftover files i might be able to rescue the box . Do you think flashing from a usb stick would achieve this or is there a better method to clean the box of previous leftover files etc before flashing . thanks .

I have been asked a few times if I can make a new setup guide for latest OpenATV 7.* versions.

So lets go through the motions again, as a few things have changed since my original OpenATV 6.4 setup guide.

Although this guide is using openatv image, it can be used as a base for any image. They are all pretty much the same process.

*note before you start a new flash - a reflash clears most things off your box. Make sure you have copies of all important information before continuing.

Thanks for this , i must study it and go through the process you outlined as i flashed my ZGEMMA h9.2h using the online method as suggested above . Everything appeared to go smoothly until i tried to connect to the internet using the set up wizard , kept everything simple but still had problems , asking if iwanted to use ipv6 etc etc which i hadnt a clue about , anyway eventually got internet connected , loads of problems again formatting my 1TB Hard drive , i let the box do all the work ,didnt fiddle with anything but it took ages to sort out , changed file system to ext 4 and got that sorted . next tried to download the iptv plugin Bouquet makerxtream as jmx is no longer available which i found to be a great plugin , the plugin appeared to download but stopped after a while , rebooted box and checked the log , failed to install , messages about opkg update etc etc , tried a few times but no plugin whatsoever would install not just bmx . factory reset box and started again but kept getting warnings about bmx not being installed so the factory reset didnt wipe my box clean as i thought it might otherwise i wouldnt be getting warnings that plugin bmx wasnt installed , i have tried different images but no joy trying to flash online , openatv 7.6 keeps booting even though i tried to flash a different image online , tried open pli and open vix , same result , keeps booting back on openAtv 7.6 .

i think my next step is manually insall an image off a usb but how do i get rid of all the crap on my box first so i have clean install .I forgot to mention tried installimg bmx manually also off usb stick but that didnt work either , box picked up the ipk file but it wouldnt install . At this stage i think I NEED TO WIPE MY BOX COMPLETELY before i attempt to install a fresh image , how do i do that if factory reset dosent wipe my box clean , is there a reset button somewhere on the box to wipe it clean fresh from the factory or will flashing an image off usb cure all my problems . Any advice appreciated before the box goes in the bin .

I don't use flash expander you will just need to search for info. flashexpander-plugin

I would download it from feed if you can because even your image openatv 7.3 is End of Life.

Thanks a million , i am going to install the latest openatv image when i get a chance and take it from there . cheers for that .

Thanks for the info . i will bear that in mind . its been years since i fiddled around with a box . Seriously though i just want a set top box that i can watch free to Air , Satellite tv and iptv on and records properly and timeshift works properly . first thing i will do is install a new image . i might upgrade to a more powerful modern box at a later stage , i am sure there are great options available , thanks

Can bouquet maker xtream be downloaded from the plugins menu as this seems a better option for iptv . thanks

hope yee are all doing well . This has probably been covered a thousand times but my Zgemma H9.2H box has being playing up lately , seems to have gone incredibly slow , spinning circle when i go into file list or menus etc and it wont record properly even though i have tried reinstalling the Hard disc , formatting checking file system , etc etc , I tried new usb sticks as well but no joy , so i think the easiest thing is flash new firmware .

OPen Atv 7.3 is currently installed so i want to install latest firmware , i flashed the box years ago by downloading firmware , extracting the folder etc but cant remember the exact process after that , is the process still the same and is it the same for all boxes as i have a H8.2H and a H.2H aswell .

A link or something with instructions for the flashing would be handy to flash this particular model correctly and further down the line i will flash the other models .

There is probably a section here on the forum but i cant seem to find it . I dont want to mess up the flashing process and risk bricking the box .

On a side note i use the plugin Jedi Maker Extreme for my iptv service and i was wondering is this slowing the box down and is there a better plugin available to create the bouqets etc . thanks in advance for any advice .

cheers buddy ... do you know much about the box . i have 2 or 3 arivas and they are fairly reliable but the android and 4k feature of this box has made me have a second look at it as i was thinking of purchasing a box for the sitting room and moving my present stb to the kitchen .

how does one translate this page...using Firefox or chrome...thanks , and are these boxes worth looking at as a decent combo box with a decent android system ? would have to be able to run cccam or other emu on it .

when you say hybrid box do you mean it has a dvbt2 and a dvbs2 tuners and an Android Opetating system aswell and i can run cccam on it and do you mean " world of satellite co.uk " shop as i would like to support the shop connected with this forum if possible or is linuxsatellite.com a different place altogether, and do you or HONCHO have links to these boxes i.e Mars or U4 Quad so i can check them out at the shop ....i want to watch the saorview chns and the satellite chns and also have Android on it to run Kodi etc aswell and run cccam without any hitches....thanks

Maybe there is patch firmware somewhere like in the old Ariva boxes but you would want to be sure of your source in case the box ended up " bricked "....surely a box like this should have a means of installing softcams as it is so new on the market .

They are good box for money and Android side plays streams without issue. Depending on your dish the tuners can be a hit and miss. I'm using shared dish in apartment complex the some channels very low siginal compared to other boxes. But normal sky dish you will have no problems.

Oscam runs good in them too.

Sounds Good , glad to get feedback from someone who has one and a fellow county man " LUIMNEACH ABU "...great value for money then as you would hardly get a stand alone Android box for that kind of money....how is cccam on it , i read on another website that it keeps disconnecting every 3 or 4 seconds .

These boxes are extremely cheap but are they any good for this price ,77 dollars for the K1 plus . havent ppriced the K2 PRO yet but heard its about 90 , wonder if any of our members have one and what do they think....

OK ta for reply ... i cant believe there isnt a decent box on the market that does dvdt2 and dvbs2 and android and also is enigma 2 / linux based . FERGUSON brought out a combo box with Android and 4k but i cant seem to get information if it is linux / enigma2 based aswell or not and if softcams can be ran on it without patching the firmware and even if such a patch exists...i will keep reading this forum i guess...ta again
