I don't think any of the teams keep a record of downloads, so popularity is hard to say. Pick one and try it. If you don't like it try another.
However, when asking for support, always state which image and version you are using. Some have numbers others have dates. Always provide as much information as possible. it helps get you the help you need.

It is not the image that is at fault, it is the plugin.
Plugins on the plugin server are updated during an image build. If you use an older image and install form the same plugin server, you will be re-installing the same plugin.
You will have to wait for a fix or use an older version.
The two versions of the plugin are different.
Spacerat's ipv6 check has been working fine for a long time. When some one added the recent PLI changes manually instead of cherry picking in the commits and resolving the conflict, they got lost. They were added back, but looks like something is still amiss.
To install an ipk,
Transfer the file to /tmp directory
Blue Button > Vix > Install local extension > select ipk > Then Green
Don't press Yellow for extra ipks
So, the legacy lnb connectors ( there are two connectors), will just plug n play in a FBC tuner on the two suggested alternatives?

Correct. You can use an FBC tuner with universal LNBs. You can update later if you want to. Your viewing/recording habits may not require it.

You can use an FBC tuner with conventional LNBs. The 6 non-physical tuners will operate in loop-through mode.
An FBC module/unit is two physical connections and 6 non-physical ones. Total of eight. If you have Unicable, only one connection on a module needs to have a signal wire attached.
You can use Telnet or SSH to issue commands. You do this from your PC, not on receiver. Anyway, this is not what you need.
You need to use an FTP program such as Filezilla client on your PC. Connect to receiver and navigate to /etc/enigma2/ You will then find the bouquet files, they end in .tv There will be one called something like last scanned.tv This will show the last scanned services, not transponders. You need a blindscan capable receiver to list found transponders. This will be an xml file though.

The channels probably in secondary bouquet. This is where Sky puts the SD ones.
You need to enable hidden bouquets. They will come first in your list of bouquets.
What image are you on now?
Factory reset function on Enigma2 receivers is pointless. All it does is delete contents of /etc/enigma2
Flashing a new image is the best thing to do.
The Mutant HD51 is a multiboot receiver. Flashing an image using USB will wipe all the four partitions. If you use the plugins (flash online, image Manager, backupsuite) to flash it you could only be flashing into one partition/slot.
ABM has never combined radio and TV services into one continuous bouquets. People have enough trouble understaning that there is no fixed numbers in Enigma2 (I' m not referring to ABM here). Sky uses numbers starting with 0 for radio, so that poses a challenge fro Enigma2 let alone ABM.
We are not going to add services you cannot view on Enigma2 receivers. Enigma2 itself omits some services after it does the sorting after scanning.
