AutoBouquets Cable and AutoBouquetsMaker do snot use xml files for "scanning". They actually don't scan.

Autobouquets Cable will pull in all the channels for your area. You most probably have poor signal.

No need for two threads.

Different receivers react differently based on the drivers.

If signal wire direct into receiver is fine. i.e no splitters extension etc, then the you do not have adequate power levels.

SNPicons means need to update is not as needed as frequently as before

I use Ocram's picons. The default ones are not just for 28.2. If you build your own, they will only contain the services in your lamedb. If you use the conventional names, just supply the links and they will be added.

What are you doing exactly? What is with the transferring?

Just install the ipk.

Check if you have any 28.2 custom mix files in this location

/usr/lib/enigma2/python/Plugins/SystemPlugins/AutoBouquetsMaker/custom

There are two versions of the channel. The UK one is dark. We added the Irish one in the "slow death" section of the provider file.

Are you using DaveSayers mix file by any chance?

Temp fix for ABM crash on Freesat

If it is an xmltv provider, that is rytec. Best to delete the EPG and fetch again

Personally, if you are using Rytec's data, better to use EPG Importer instead of CrossEPG

Which image?

Are you obtaining EPG using Rytec (internet based) or OpenTV (satellite/signal wire based)?

The important thing is the sim card in the receiver.

If you have an A8P sim card, after flashing a clone image, you must flash the genuine bootloader before rebooting.

Installing latest ABM won't resolve your issue. You need an image that can deal with the error that Virgin are transmitting with.

Try GJStroom Pli 6.1 image.
