try to load the S/W by USB or recovery tool but dont use your back up.abs
after loadig the orginal S/W do the factory erase then you can load your back up abs.

I have a DM500 S and I would like to know how to make a complete backup before I start experimenting with flashing images and so on. I am a newbie so I want to make sure I can get everything back to the way it is now. A friend of mine set this up for me. Now I want to learn how to do it myself. As far as I can see it now has a Gemini image and something called MGCamd on it.
So how do I do this?
Can I use Dreambox control Center and the built-in Telnet, and type -cat /dev/mtd/3 > /tmp/backup.img?
Will this image everything on the DM?
you should use DCC and using tool aption to tack a back up from your image. very easy to use.
