i think the cables running from sly dish into my front room are still behind the tv,when the ******al bloke came round to do the installation he left the cables as they were
Its no older than four years had it installed then moved to ****** am i right in thinking the dm500s wont work with cable cheers
thanks all for your help just one more thing,i still have an old sly dish on the wall could i connect that to the dm,my mate whos going to help me put the bigger dish up is away for a few weeks so thought i might play around with this until hes back cheers
Display MoreYou can use it alright.
Have a look at this thread, it may help you get it set up. (if it hasn't been setup already)

ill dust it down and have a try if i remember rightly i think i tried it out about 6 months ago and done something wrong with it i may have to factory restore it as there is hundreds of channels listed in different folders if thats the right term, couldnt get my head round it.
tm2600 motor is the best one i recon you have the dish you just need a t&k bracket to keep it away from the wall so it turns ok £70 for both there abouts get going and when you are.pm me for a line to get you going and look at cards from there dont splash out too much and if you buy a box make sure its something that will retain its value if things go wrong with red cards
cheers you all are very helpful could i try and start off with old dm500s i have
ok im going to do a bit of research
still unsure what reciever to buy dont really want to spend £100s on one in case i dont get on with it so looking at a decent entry level one if that makes sense
Display MorePossible alright but is going to cost you initially (package to share and a decent receiver/server)
Have a look at our sponsors site regarding the hardware (receivers / dish / motors etc..)

See what takes your fancy.
Maybe some of these threads are worth a read also regarding what satellite equipment is being used / recommended:

wow looks like i have some serious homework to do
Nearly all hd channels on 28.2 cannot be shared at the moment either, only the sd ones.
im not overly fussed about hd,as long as its possible to get these channels cheers
ok i think i understand where your coming from but want to get on that bus.
hi thanks for reply was thinking of getting a motor for the dish would like to recieve as many channels as possible.
hi all new to this so a bit wet behind the ears,im looking to setup a satellite system but unsure where to start.Ive got ****** media at the moment(basic package) but thinking of getting rid of it.What i would like to know is what system would i need to get pretty much the channels i get now ie kids channels fox hd,*** atlantic hd and so on and maybe movies and sports.Any advice would be most helpful i live in west sussex uk.Ive been given a 1m dish by a friend and have got an old original dm500s which i dont know how to use but would rather a reciever that my mrs can use easily ie a decent epg and to be able to record one program while watching another if thats possible any advice will be helpful.
