Gerry sometimes maybe openelec addons server is unaccessible, i tryed now to uninstall and install and it works just force check for updates and check if you have internet connection at wetek play or maybe is dns issue and cant resolve hostname.

To check if is dns issue try connect by ssh to wetek play and do command:

    ping google.com

Android + OpenELEC = BBC Player, Sly Go, Netflix or any streaming app at Android, while on OpenELEC Pulsar, Navi X, Genesis, NBC Sports Extra etc.

Both Android and OpenELEC support DVB, today I saw even ubuntu can be installed, small PC with tuner for 99 eur

Eventually more play some games, use wetek play as miracast so you can share screen of your phone to TV over wetek

Well is quite different and more powerful in sense of CPU speed, DDR memory etc

    Just found on official forum:

    WeControl

Your WeTek Play remote control unit is far away from your sofa? Do you want to control your TV from your Android device? No problem, if you are with your Android Smart phone or Android Tablet, from now on you can can control your WeTek Play with WeControl application.

WeControl application is a smart substitution for standard physical WeTek Air-mouse remote control unit. It also supports any function directly at Android Smart phone or Android Tablet.

Enjoy the powerful of this remote control unit inside your android device

with all of those tutorials done by forum member sniffer i think nothing can't be hard, he make detailed tutorials and even myself used them when he was posting on another forum. Also for official software WeTek OS android there are many videos done by them explaining each part in video

Personally I would say go for a Vu+ receiver but you wont get one capable of running XBMC / KODI for less than £170, the watek I have no experience with but I very much doubt the satellite side would be in any where comparable with a proper Enigma2 based receiver and that would be the part that would let the side down for me.

For me DVB work perfectly at Wetek Play with OpenELEC but also with Android WeTek Theater. By the way there is in progress Enigma 2 for Wetek play so no doubt.

Wetek use ARM processor, VU+ use MIPS processor, and Wetek have dedicated 3D GPU Mali-400 which is dual core GPU, and 1.5 GHz dual core CPU with Hardware acceleration for audio and video decoding. So at all Wetek Play as HW is more powerful than even any broadcom dual core mips processor.

WeTek Play CPU: 1.5 GHz Dual Core ARM

WeTek Play GPU: Dual Core Mali-400 GPU

    DDR 3: 1 GB DDR 3 1333 MHz

If you want complete device for DVB, Multimedia and to serve to you as Mini PC go for Wetek, you will be happy. And of course you will spare 2xx pounds/euros in your pocket.

Take a look about zapping speed at WeTek Play:

    Ubuntu 14.04 for WeTek Play

Experimental version of Ubuntu 14.04 Linux distro for WeTek Play.

    Download:

    apt-get install lubuntu-desktop

Note: This last command can take up to 1 hour, because it will download 1.2 GB of files, and after it is done you will need to make reboot, and then You will have Lubuntu 14.04 installed at WeTek Play.

is there a cable & sat combo, and how do you update channel list and EPG ?

I think there is no combo, only twin satellite tuner or hybrid tuner which have dvb-c/t/t2. If need combo good option is dvb-s2 tuner + some cheap usb dvb-t with support in Linux kernel.

Here you can see linixtv supported devices directly in kernel, just plug it and go

    Hi markeh,

You will not make mistake especially as you get many functionalities in one device.

    1. Yes it works. In OpenELEC you can download OSCam. Also for android there is oscam. On OpenELEC i use my subscription official to watch tv as i connect my smargo reader.

    2. Netflix works, and i think wetek is only of few android players on market to support netflix hd playback, probably because is Google GMS certified.

    3. In tvheadend you have Sly EPG grabber and many xml epg options.

4.yes it works in both, android, openelec (vdr, tvheadend)
