ok i was able to import the .m3u list via usb with this

Not really sure what happened. The only thing to try now is to hold the reset button on the bottom of the box, the small white button. Then put full version of update.zip in USB before powering on. This will clear everything and should be good to start afresh.
ok before I do that, which update.zip do I put on usb stick? please link it to me

all my apps do not work, even after doing a factory reset, none of my apps work. I am going to go back to the previous update.zip that wiped everything and I have to re-install everything. I can't really use box for anything at its current state.
any ideas guys?

Box firmware should be in zip file "update.zip" ,. Donot unzip it otherwise it will be corrupted .
to update by USB, it should be connected to USB2.0. And USB 3.0 does not always work.yes that is correct, I put the update.zip file and tried both 2.0 and 3.0 port.
once i am back home today, i am going to try a different usb drive.
it's ok if there are other file's on the USB? Or does update.zip have to be the only one?

Ok I used a different USB drive and it worked. It went through its software update and everything.
I still don't see that Backup file time option. And one more thing, all my apps are gone :( I have to redo everything now..... It's like it did a factory reset and nothing happened.

Import m3u playlist is possible. Please follow the steps below:
1. Go to this page and change the setting at "backup file type" from "text" to "m3u":
