which sats do you have ,28.2 or multi sat.
English manual wont help with enigma2 mate just plenty of reading on here will.When i 1st went linux i thought the world was caving in until i learnt.

Thanks alot,ive reached my download limit so will try later.I converted the avi file and put back into the "vu"folder and works great but would be even better if it will just play those files straight off.
downloaded the avi plugin ftp to tmp then restarted box.Movie plays now great.

1. create a new folder on PC - call it 'vu'
2. create administrative user on PC - to keep things simple call the user 'vu' and the password 'vu'
3. share the folder : properties --> sharing --> advanced sharing --> make sure 'share this folder' is checked and click permissions --> make sure everybody has full control.
4. put any files you want to play in the vu folder.Then on your Vu+ box
1. menu > setup > system > Network > Mount Manager
2. Add a new network mount point
3. Active - yes
local share name - nas (you can call it anything you like)
mount type - CIFS share
server IP - (enter PC IP here)
server share - /vu (make sure you include the /)
username - vu
password - vuYou can then access the files by pressing the button next to the menu button and then changing location to the share name.
done this and it works a treat once i worked out that i needed to enter the username/password that i acctually sign onto my laptop with.One this is the file i have put into the vu folder to try is a avi and wont play,is this not compatable with the duo.

came home late tonight and thought one last go before shipping back to shop.Plugged in direct to router like i had already tried and the sod decided to get a ip address so put it back on the homeplug and all is working fine.

Did you try to set a static IP ?
What about the led-lights on the port (if there are any), and led on the router/switch ?
wHEN THE CABLE WAS DIRECT INTO THE ROUTER THE YELLOW PORT LED WAS ON WITH A FLASHING ORANGE AS IF IT WAS SEEKING A IP ADDRESS OOPs sorry for shouting .
but when its through the homeplug no lights on.Also when cable direct to router the local connects but still no ip address.Will try the reboot option next.cheers.Ive tried the clean image change.Off to bed now

Got a vu duo in May this year but all of a sudden it wont connect to my network.Reflashed image,changed cable/homeplug,connected direct into router but still no joy.The network test says Lan connected,local not,dhcp enabled,ip address unconfirmed,nameserver unconfirmed .Double checked every input no joy.Brought a gigablue down from bedroom and this connects straight away on same cable.I can only think that its the ethernet port.Any help please before i send back to shop as they say im liable for costs if its not faulty cheers.

Can i be pointed in the direction of an idiots guide to installing this cos ive tried twice and box just got stuck on the start up.Or is the above a fix for this problem cheers if so.

Must start by thanking you for your settings which are the only ones i ever use.Would it be at all possible to pre parental control the adult channels as i had a bit of a mishap.Lets just say it opened the kids eyes a little.

Loaded list into DBedit all ok then FTP to vu solo but then restart and nothing no list,yet it transfers fine.Then need to put old list on and no problems.

ive got one running a s10 so it will work.

Ive also got a issue with this image.Everything loaded great but Tmp the tspanel over which all worked well but the panel just wont download any lists to install cams ect.Put VIX back on installed tspanel and no problem so it isnt the ts server.
