Welcome to my new plugin E2 Piconizer.

    V1.28

If plugin doesn't seem to be installing try the telnet/putty command

    opkg update

E2 Piconizer will allow the downloading of picons direct from sky for 28.2e in all popular picons sizes ranging from 50x30 pixels to 400x240 pixels.

E2 Piconizer also allows a suite of graphic effects you can apply to the picon set including, backgrounds, reflection, glass effects, padding, offset, rounding corners.

Download full sets or just the individual picons you are missing.

Use the list of external sources or local sources for your picons.

    How to install

    How to use

Select the source of your picon set, whether that be external or local. Local source graphics need to be put in the folder
    etc/enigma2/E2Piconizer/local_source
(I have provided some files in this folder from previous picon sets I have created that are missing or differ from the original external source.)

Select the location of where you want to download the picons to.
    The default location is
    etc/enigma2/E2Piconizer/downloads

You can set this download location to go directly to your picon folder. But I recommend downloading to a different location first and using e-channelizer to correctly assign picons.

Style your picon how you like your picon set to appear.

Use the test picons selection to get an idea of how they will look.

Click Green button to take you to the Picon selection page.

Select the picons you wish to download by checking the boxes.

Click green to start downloading picons.

If you have downloaded picons to a location other than your picon folder either correctly assign them with e-channelizer, or just manually copy them all over to your picon folder and reboot your GUI.

    FAQs

Can I use my own picon source graphics.

Yes. Place your source files in etc/enigma2/E2Piconizer/local_source

Can I use my own custom background graphics.

Yes. I have already included in the plugin some popular and historical background styles.

If you would like to use your own, place your background graphic files in etc/enigma2/E2Piconizer/backgrounds

Make sure they are the correct apect ratio for the picon size you are creating.

Can I use my own glass/sheen effects.

Yes. Place your transparent glass/sheen png in etc/enigma2/E2Piconizer/glass

Can I download picons from EPG sources not in the plugin.

Not at the moment. There is a limited number of sources available. This might be expanded in the future.

If there is a particular EPG that you would like me to see if I can source graphics from. Just let me know and I will investigate.

Some Picon sources are small. Can I download them bigger.

No. I am downloading picons at the largest size available from that source.

The majority of these will work fine a 220x132 pixels size and below, but may not be suitable for 400 x 240 picons.

You can always manually source larger picons and place them in the local_source folder.

Can I just download the newest picons.

Yes. On selecting your picons to download, you can sort the picon list by A-Z, Z-A or date, which is the last time the graphic was modified on their servers. This will show the newer picons.

My newly created picons are not appearing.
    Firstly try rebooting your GUI.
Sky sources and maybe Virgin sources should name the picon correctly and should appear fine.
Other Horizon sources might not have the correct filename. Again use e-channelizer to correctly assign and reupload the picons.

    Your plugin crashed my box.
This is an early beta release. There will be errors.
Send my your crashlog that lives here. home/root/logs/

Why is the download so large.
I have provided a sample set of local source picons. These can be deleted if they are not required.

To further add to this post and to possible aid other people with their experiences with universal remotes on the plethora of sat boxes.

So I bought another universal remote this week.

One For All Essense 2. (should have bought the essense 4 as that has play/ff/rw/pause buttons etc - i don't really need them functions though.)

So here is how I got it setup on my dinobot 4k. - Because the instruction booklet and the instructions on the one 4 all website are a load of crap.

First of all none of the codes provided work 100% out of the box.

    Search method.

    Hold Magic button 3 secs.

Press Mode to go to sat

    Press 9 9 1

    Press Power

Keep pressing Channel + until your sat box goes off.

I eventually found a code that turn off my box.

    Reveal Code

To know what this code is (again their website doesn't tell you this)

    Hold Magic button 3 secs

    Press 9 9 0

Then hold these buttons down and count the flashes. 1 2 3 4

So the code I got mostly working was 1886

    Direct Code Input

To manually enter this code without having to press channel + about 200 times.

    Hold Magic button 3 secs

    Select Mode (sat)

    Type in code. i.e 1886

    Extended Function Codes

Now some of these buttons are incorrect (about 6 of them) but we can reprogram these using 'extended function codes'

To enter and test an 'extended function code', it first needs an initial box code. In my example 1886. Set up as explained above.

Extended function codes range from 0-255 and then repeated there after with the same numbers. i.e 256 = 0, 257 = 1 etc etc

To quickly test an EFC, press macro once then enter a 5 digit code. Preceded with zeros if need be.

I personally just went through 00000 - 00255 on my box and noted down what each EFC did, with the help of enigma2 (hotkey/button setup plugin)

So for the One For All Essense 2 - Code 1886 - The codes I found for my dinobot 4k are.

Not to state the obvious, but there is a huge storm battering the UK at the moment. Are you sure its just not the wind blowing your dish.

Does your dish need tweaking. Is your signal over 70% on most channels. If not it probably needs a quick nudge.

Does your f-connector need re-ending. Is there any excessive wiring around the connector. Is the center wire straight.

Are your cables full sealed, or has water potentially got into them.

Is this for free to air channels, encrypted or iptv?

Is your box well ventilated, it could be over heating?

There are many things to check before finally deciding the tuners are poo.

All my sky copy cat skins can be found here. Including the new Sky Q look. And the older Sky HD look. Picons and also my jedi Maker Xtream Plugin.

    KiddaC Skins

All with lovely screenshots and full install instructions.

As you are after a pretty standard sky look build, you might better looking for a h7c full backup image.

With a backup image, someone else has done all the hard work for you, setting it up, putting on the the skins, installing all the necessary plugins, amending all the settings.

I am not sure if Willo3092 has one of these?

As for mixing up bouquets. You really don't have to. And is lot more maintenance. Also a lot of the IPTV plugins will reset your order again if your do a daily/weekly update.

From your satellite/cable you can bring in your grouped categories. i.e All / Entertainment / Documentaries etc.

Then from your IPTV you just bring in a few more grouped categories. In my opinion its much clearer and simpler if you don't put over the air and iptv channels in the same bouquet.

I have attached an old step by step guide for setting up an old zgemma 2s. Setting up any enigma2 box is pretty much the same principle.

The only difference is to make sure you have the correct image for your box. Some of the information is a little dated now, but most of it still stands now.

Here is some further advice. Seems like you are re-inventing the wheel here.

Run autobouquetmaker hide sections. Hide the sections you do not want. Run a scan.

    a9d67a1.png

What this does is put a hide parameter in etc/bouquets.tv

    f29a58fa0b3f85dc460cde277.png

So my current stripped down channels look like this

    a464fd6d8ab4ab38291ea7.png

You can also then go into any bouquet, press menu. Remove channel.

There is also a plugin that does very similar to what you are after

Go into plugins. Download plugins. System plugins

    Download bouquet protector.

    reboot gui.

This can then be found in menu...setup.. bouquet protection.

    218a4f9d8617afd1.png
    e2f9ee73c2fae9031cb.png

Then go into channel select press menu... Add bouquet protection to the ones you want to hide. (red number 1)

Then when you are done. Hide them. (red number 2)
    0967d732b3e.png

to show them again you just go back into that menu and unlock protected services.

Warning this does bugger the bouquet order up when reshowing them. It puts them at the bottom of the list. So you may need to do a abm scan after the have got muddled up. Showing hidden channels you also have to press menu, reload services to get them all back viewing and in order.

Bouquet protection plugin is a good idea. It could be implemented better though ;)

Your box will support all openatv builds. Even the latest ones.

Maybe you are getting confused with old hacked openvix builds that used to work on old zgemmas

And as always when flashing a new image. Make sure you backup all your iptv lines and softcam keys if you have any A reflash will wipe this data.

Do not restore settings or plugins on a reflash, your old settings will not be compatible with this newer openatv.

And just to add to what jenseneverest has said, due to my skinning and plugin work i crash and reboot my boxes 100 times a day. Never once bricked a box. Sometimes there is no other choice than a complete new flash to salvage it, but a reflash always seems to bring them back to life. But again, I have never pulled the power mid flash. :)
