Yes . But it should be original not clone (Chinese ) .Because VU+ often doesnt like cheap Chinese sticks.
I use Kingston and Sandisk original for my Dreambox and VU+ .

I am having same problem with my DM920 it just has a red led on front panel, if i swich it off and hold finger on front button and switch it back on it flashes red then magenta then back to red the screen says dreambox but then the screen goes off. I have used putty and have a log file which is attached

Why not created .deb file for dreamOs images ?.
I think its all about tuners matching . The default tuner setup is also matters here .
If its possible remove the top cover and share the motherboard pictures where the tuners are installed and reset button pics to .
Its possible your old dm 8000 tuner is also not compatible . in my tests and experiences if its about dreambox than dreamOs is the only best choice for it .

Most of the skin in feed doesnt work properly . only the default skin works fine. I have tested almost all skins in ts feed . Although I have replaced this image with gp 4.2 aio But I hope may you will fix these issues to .

Seem usb is not fully formatted.
2nd may be the usb is not supported anymore .
Try anyother usb it must be not more than 16gb.
I use kingstons and sandisk original 8gb usb and
HP usb formatting tool to for formatting ,
Chk/Root multiboot is the nice option in my dm900
Doest it work also if the box has gpt partition ?. .
Install dosfstool first than install gpt-plugin.
